| ![]() I absolutely completely agree with buying your breeder first. I have one from a shelter, two rescues & one from a breeder. I love my shelter pup/rescues more than I ever knew was possible. But there's a huge difference between them & my champion-sired girl. In fact, her price wasn't even a concern of mine. Once I found my breeder, I knew that I wanted a puppy from her no matter what the cost. I probably paid a little higher than average. However, I'm in the Northeast & everything is more expensive here. Some other reasons she was probably on the higher end of the price scale could have been the fact that she stayed with her breeder for a full 16 weeks, she is spayed, she's had her 1st year of shots, she's microchipped, she has a one year congenital health guarantee & she was raised with an incredible amount of love. Plus, my breeder has to put up with emails from me bragging about how smart, wonderful & perfect my baby is for the next 15 years ![]() I wish you the best of luck with your search!! What an exciting time for you!

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() @rhetts mama & tiskers ! Yes thanks for that I've actually talked to my original vet from Tennessee and she informed me grade 1/2 murmurs are somewhat normal in small breed puppies...something to do with them growing(spurts)? either way my breeder offered to let me come to the appointment tomorrow so I can know firsthand what she says(which was extremely nice of her). But since I'm on vacation she'll give me a copy of the vets recommendation for my records and will call me as soon as the check up is completed so we can make the best decision for my family. |

![]() ![]() ![]() I always tell my new owners the price of their puppy covers (all the things you outlined above), PLUS access to an experienced breeder with over 35+ years involvment with Yorkies, that access is 24/7, for the life of that baby, not just until the ink dries on the contract, and you leave with your baby! | |

![]() ![]() ![]() The relationship you have with your breeder is truly priceless. My breeder stayed in close contact with me prior to the breeding, during the pregnancy, the first 16 weeks & I just got an email from her last week. She's going to be an important part of my life for a long time.

Also, I'm not sure if you stated how far this breeder is from you. Would it be possible for her to bring the dog to your vet for a pre-placement check up (at your expense, of course)?

| ![]() Looking back at this thread, I guess I didn't really answer your question. I think that a puppy from an reputable breeder in the Northeast/New England area would probably be in the $2000-$2500 range. Hope that helps ![]()

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() @rhetts mama. I never thought to have my vet look it over before(I was going to take her to my vet within 48 hours of picking her up to look her over herself). I was just going to ask her opinion once the check up is over and I received word from the breeder. It shouldn't be a problem for her to fax it...I'll send her a quick text about it. ![]() |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() That sounds pretty good. And it does sound like the breeder is staying in close contact with you, and trying to do the best for her puppies and her future owners. Grade1/2 Murmur especially when the pup is young can resolve very easily as they age. If the murmur is a function of growth asymmetries within the valvular/heart system. I would ask the breeder though about any heart and or any health problems of the line she is breeding.

And that kind of access is quite frankly priceless. Especially with a breeder who also keeps current and up to date on health, research and trends.

Yorkie Yakker | ![]() I paid $900 for my white (Biewer Yorkie) I have his papers. However we found that we can get a beautiful dog that needs a family from Yorkie Adoption Organizations. We got our new guy a traditional silver/black/tan Yorkie at 10 months old for $500 adoption fee. We love them both!!

| ![]() I am going to tell you something, have an ultrasound/or echo done on your pup. Take him to your vet right after you get him... 6 months ago I lost a pup under similar circumstances...what started as a mild murmur turned it to a nightmare I still can't wrap my head around....just to be safe, they can tell so much more from an ultrasound or echo. Many breeders will hold on till it is fully resolved, good luck, keep us posted.

| ![]() Charlie Brown was $250.00 now I got him from a lady that is a breeder but not of Yorkies at the time she had obtained Charlie from a breeder that for some reason I dont know why, no longer bred (I have my suspicions) Now $250 is a great price I am sure you are thinking but for all of you that know Charlie Brown, you know it has cost me five grand in his health care with his MVD issues. (hence my suspicions above) I do not regret my getting him he has been a joy to my life. but the health expense has been extreme. I would say know who it is your getting your baby from, know a full health history of the parents. I did not, only of Charlies health while in the care of the person I got him from which was fine she gave me all of his health records and he saw the same vet for some time after I got Charlie. I imagine if I knew the full health history of Charlies parents that there would have been the answers to why he has so many health issues.
