Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Jeepers Crepers take a look at my peepers? Background; Girl 'Crystal' born 1/11/13, we re-homed her June 18th this year, to a quiet retired couple home, with no other pets. Good natured little soul, who desperately wants to please. I'm concerned that our little girl may be suffering from bits of hair irritating her eyes (see pic). I've tried with pure drinking water for the past month, eye cleaners (not Angel Eyes), eye pads, etc. She is just six months, so is probably still teething, but at times the stains look as if her little peepers are infected. I'm sure this is not the case as they're very clear. What do you think folks? |

| Probably a combo of teething and those little hairs by her eyes. Try doing something to smooth that hair away from her eyes..some sort of hair/top knot gel or vaseline or something.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks hadn't thought of the good old Vaseline, where would we be without it?We're also both unprepared to risk the scissors. She's very active with the chew sticks and loves play biting with my hand, so also the old meggy's are probably a little issue too just at the moment? |

| Oh, I remember that stage. You can dab the eye goop off everyday with a wet washcloth. It does help keep it away. Hopefully the hair will grow quickly.

| Katie is not a baby, and that is a huge difference, but I use a Madan mustache comb or a Chris Christensem face/leg comb on her face. They are only 4.5 inches long, and they really help to comb the hair away from the eyes. I don't like cutting the hair on the nose. Eventually the longer hair will help to weigh the hair down. Once you cut it, you always have to cut it. I agree that teething is probably contributing, and the hair is probably irritating her eyes. I love your stories of your little girl!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thank you, We had to have her coat trimmed to a short puppy cut five weeks ago to rid of the knots and tangles matted with sawdust when we got her. I reckon the face hair was lopped off then. I've refrained from cutting her 'spikes' as I liked them when we first got her and these and her cheeky little face first really attracted me. I'll also dab some Vaseline on and leave them to grow over and away from her eyes. |

| I use a flea comb to get the goo out of Zoey's eyes. I also read on one of the threads that nursery water worked well. Zoey tears a lot so I'll probably stop by the store this weekend to get some and try it out.. |

I'll keep a watch on her little megs, they all look beautiful and so white, she loves her chew sticks in particular by the way and I hope she always will. Last edited by docmartin; 07-24-2013 at 07:50 PM. | |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thank you, I have a friend in the USAF over here and he's going to get me some 'Gerbers' next time we meet (5 litre size). Unfortunately it's not retailed over here, even in our version of Walmart, branded 'Asda'. She's been on distilled for a month, ever since we got her and it's definitely better. I think it's much safer, as unusually for the Uk; we have a water softener and I didn't want her little kidneys getting spoilt by that oversight. Last edited by docmartin; 07-24-2013 at 08:02 PM. |
