| Getting a new pup? Question! Hey YT-- I have a question for all of you that have added a second pup to your home. Tigger is just over two years old and has the best temper-- does not bark, very laid back and just likes to cuddle. We're thinking of getting him a sister but we're worried she is going to be a loud, uncontrollable little thing! Those who have experience with this, does the second pup learn to take cues from the first, or is their temperament just the luck of the draw? Thanks!

| I believe it is mostly individual disposition of the dogs, with environmental factors mixed in. The only way to guarantee what kind of personality you are getting is to adopt an adult. However, if you choose your breeder carefully, you likely will not end up with an uncontrollable, loud pup. My boys learn behaviors from each other. Most of the mutual influence is good, but they do have their moments when they egg each other on in undesirable behavior, namely the car barking game that they have developed.
