| Is Coco a Silky???? Today was my first trip to the groomer with Coco. She has been groomed before but it was before I became her new mommy. She did really well as I sort of knew she would because I bathe her every week and blow dry her and she gives me no problems what so ever. But, at the end of her appointment I was informed by the groomer that she is a silky. I've been doing a bit of research to understand the difference. Can you look at the pictures I got of her and tell if she is a silky? She is AKC registered but as a Yorkshire Terrier. Doesn't really matter to me because she has been spayed so no breeding. I'm just a bit curious for myself. |

| Groomers Aren't experts of the breed. Your breeder said she was a yorkie and she's Akc registered as a yorkie she's a yorkie. My groomer told me my chachi was a silky too but I know as fact he is a yorkie

| I think your groomer is confused. Yorkies can be larger, it doesn't automatically mean they are silky. Just smile and nod

| Looks all yorkie to me. People sometimes think a silky is just a bigger yorkie when that's not true at all they have more differences then weight there are also a lot of yorkies that are bigger then the standard 7 pounds but are still pure yorkies. I think your groomer maybe uneducated in what a yorkie and a silky look like.

| I'm not an expert. She doesn't look like a Silky at all to me. From the pictures you've provided her head doesn't look flat enough on top, her ears aren't long and pointed enough and her body doesn't look long enough to be a Silky. Her legs don't look stocky and her muzzle doesn't appear (to me) to be long enough, slanted enough, nor triangular enough to be a Silky either. She looks like a big Yorkie to me. |

| Thank You I've read and read and read and I had thought from the very beginning that she was a yorkie and never dreamed she "might" be a silky. I just always thought she was a larger yorkie. Either way, it wasn't an issue at all just got me to thinking maybe I was wrong in my belief even though she is AKC registered as a yorkie. She is cute and I thank you for your remarks. She has not been our first dog just our first yorkie and i have to say, I never dreamed someone could capture my heart so quickly. Thank you again for your help. |

| Maybe the groomer meant silky coat? I know Yorkies can have cotton or silky coats.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | She looks all yorkie to me. She is just a little bigger than some and people tend to think their nit yorkies. She is so cute.

| My vet thought Magnus was possibly a silky mix at very least... But I've met ppl that commented how their dog looks just like him. And their dog is AKC registered yorkie. Magnus is close to 16 lbs.. This one couple said theirs was over 20 lbs. |
