I think that most breeders won't let them go home until they are at least 12 weeks

Well the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America says good breeders will not let there pups got until at least 12 weeks because they are still learning a lot from there moms up to 12 weeks. People who let there pups go before that do it because they don't want the expense of keeping the pups, the work, and they just want money.

In most states it is against the law. Each state has different law on when a breeder can release a puppy for sale or transfer to its new owners. But from what I see you state does not.

Yes we seen the parents. They had both of them there. They didnt seem to big, but I have never seen a Yorkie in person so I can't compare. My wife has been wanting a teacup yorkie for years and I promised her one for a wedding present, but I read the truth about teacups so I talked her out of one.

And I know that 6 weeks old is to young to get a pup, but we were told that they were old enough to come home. We didnt realize she was 6 weeks old until we were on way home when we looked at her papers.

She is registered with CKC, and now reading up on CKC I wish I would have waited. But she was what we could afford and my wife was dying to get her. But we're not going to trade her in if she's not pure now, but I just don't want to pay this much for a mixed breed. Is there a way to test to see if she is pure? The parents looked pure to me. I know that we can pay to get her pedigree through CKC, but will this prove anything.

You said your puppy is CKC

as in - Continental Kennel Club

or

Canadian Kennel Club

The Canadian Kennel Club is a valid and reputable kennel club, the Continental Kennel Club (in my not so humble opinion) is not, and it's quite easy to get non-purebred dogs registered with the Continental Kennel Club.

From looking at your pictures, I do not believe your puppy is 100% Yorkie, she definitely looks like a mix to me. She actually looks almost the spitting image of Gypsy, only much larger. Gypsy is a Yorkshire Terrier Mix (SPCA assessed). Perhaps your mix was a couple generations back, or somewhere else in her line - but I think she's a mix. You can get DNA testing at your veterinarian's office if you're that interested...it's $60.00 here but I'm sure that will vary from vet to vet, and state to state, city to city and so on. The reason I will have it done on Gypsy soon is to see what other breeds she has in her so I can check the known medical issues those particular breeds are known to have problems with...that will help me in the future when I ask for certain tests at her vet.

That being said - your puppy is gorgeous. I wouldn't trust the breeder for information, or another puppy at any point in time or for any help in raising her... simply because they let her go at 6 weeks and that is, in my opinion, abominable behavior for any breeder.

I say as long as she's healthy, who cares about size. She definitely is not a tiny, but that's just more of her to love.

If its not the Canadian Kennel Club then the registry is useless. There is a test but its not 100%. I jut hope yall get lucky and she doesn't have any health problems like a lot of dogs that come from bad breeders do.

She's a cutie, but will probably just be larger than standard. I'm glad that you will love her no matter her breed.

I have learned my lesson with her to stay away from CKC. I never researched kennel clubs before I bought her bc I'm from a small town in Alabama where most people don't register their dogs and I've heard of CKC but I knew AKC was the bigger and better. I have emailed the CKC and they said that I could fill out a complaint package against the breeders. After looking at pictures on the Internet, now to me she reminds me of a Yorkie Poo. I went ahead and ordered a DNA test for her just to find out. So I can at least stop these people from selling to other uninformed people like me. I have had tons of people ask me where I got her and I just can't recommend them to anyone. This doesn't change her place in the house, she still will be spoiled as if she is a Grand Champion.

I agree with you. Mine is continental kennel club also. And since I've had
My puppy I've learned some things about the lady I got him from I'm not happy with. But I'm still keeping my little guy.

She looks like a Yorkie to me...and looks like she'll be a dark princess when she gets older! (I personally love when their coats stay dark ^_^)

Jack will be 5 months on the 25th and almost weighs 6lbs already. He weight 3.2 at 10 weeks when we brought him home. He isn't chunky either, just has really long legs and only a small bit of fluff in his coat. I assume he will be a big boy when he is full grown, which I don't mind one bit. As long as he stays loveable and healthy

I wouldn't be too concerned, honestly. She looks perfect & so so pretty. If she's happy and healthy, then you're blessed!
