Questions about a 10 week old pup My pup is 10 weeks old. She has been with us for about a month now and is doing great. But I just have some questions about her weight. We took her to the vet because she was eating last week, and she weight 2.6 lbs. then we took her for her 2nd shots this Monday and they said she weighted 3.5lbs. I didnt think their was a way she gained a lb in one week so I weight her at home and she does weight 3.5. Is this normal for a yorkie to weight so much at this age? I googled this and it seems like she is really big for her age. We are feeding her Royal Canin and giving her 2/3 a cup of food a day. Also her hair is a lot longer and fluffier than pictures I see on the Internet of a yorkie that young. I will try to post pictures if her shortly if I can get her to sit still. |

Yes. She was born May 9. So she 10 weeks today. That's what it says on her registration papers. |
This doesn't seem right.. You got your pup when she was only 6 weeks? That is way to young! Where did you buy her? |
3.5lbs at 10 weeks means shes going to be bigger than standard size (7 lbs). Mine is 3.8lbs and he's 4 months old. Did you get her when she was 6 weeks? :confused: |
All puppies grow at different points in their life. No two pups will gain weight at the exact same pace and they will gain more or less depending on their appetite and there age. I have had pups even younger than yours gain more than a pound in under two weeks time. Its really not that uncommon and nothing to be concerned about. It jut meant that your pup is happy and healthy !! Would you prefer that he rarely eats and is underweight, Probably not . . . |

Maybe her first weight of 2.6 was a bit off. One of mine weighed 4.2 at 12 weeks...another weighs 3.0 at 23 wks. They all grow at different rates & go through growth spurts at different times. I woudn't limit your pup's food at this age. They eat more when they're puppies than when they're adults. They need those nutrients to grow up strong & healthy. Good luck!! |

There is no correct weight for a puppy that young in my opinion a puppy can not be fat. She may grow to be a little bigger then standard or she may have a growth spurt now and then not grow much more you just ever know with pups. I'm sure you will still love her even if she get a little bigger then standard right? |

She looks like she will be on the big side. Dud you see the parents? This is why I personally always ask to see the parents just to get an idea of adult size. Even though its not 100%proof. |
I have read the above comments. Is it wrong to get a Puppy at 6 weeks? Mine is 10 weeks and weighs 2.7 as of last week. |
