Please, please contact your local yorkie club or a rescue or if you go on the internet check out the ytca website for a starting point. There is a ton of yorkie puppy mills, back yard breeders and greeders on the Internet. You may think that you pay more for a pup from a show breeder but you are actually saving a lot in vet bills and heartache. We are trying to help

I agree. YTCA members and show breeders breeders will not use that term but I see it used all the time by others along with the term 'teacup'.

Yep, I agree. I think more and more breeders are leaning toward the shorter muzzle with small ears. So much of the actual soundness of the yorkie is being compromised because people are just breeding for a pretty face and not for the overall soundness of the breed. A pretty face is nice but it means nothing if the rest of the dog is unsound.

That it seems to me to be somewhat rife in the toy breeds. That is not breeding for a sound dog.

Lol,I know what you mean. Sometimes it is hard to know the right terms to use on this website without starting a firestorm. How old is the pup you are looking at?

LOL! Can I add the terms teacup and mini to the list of words to avoid when looking at breeders? If they use any of those HOT terms to advertise, I'd stay away from them completely!

When you do find a good breeder you like, just tell them you'd prefer a smaller nosed yorkie if they have one. They should have pictures of the pups they have. You'll know the right one when you see it. Good luck in your search! Keep us updated!

I'll add Pocket Yorkies and Ultra-mini/miniature Yorkies to that list of terms to stay away from when looking for a reputable breeder. ANY term that makes you think super-tiny is what they are advertising is a good indicator that that breeder is breeding to create a very small dog in order to make more money. I don't care how the website might ballyhoo the health of the puppies and "health certificates" of the breeding parents, if they are breeding for tiny dogs, beware, there has to be breeding of undersized dogs and the health problems they carry and pass along involved.
