| Cookie monster 2 - Chris 0 Just got my Amazing Yorkie "Cookie" (thanks Deb Sillers!) about 2 hours ago at the airport, and it was love at first sight. Wow, she is such a sweetheart and so affectionate already. I went and laid down next to her with my head on the ground so we could make good eye contact, and I got my first yorkie puppy kisses just a few seconds later when she came over to me. Right now she's curled up against me for a nap as I type this. Cookie looked a little scared when we brought her home, but it couldn't have taken more than 10 minutes before she warmed up to me. But she's beating me in the potty training wars 2-0 so far, lol. First thing I did when we brought her home was take her out back to go pee. I didn't want her to be out too long though, because it was already almost 80 degrees and Lil' Cook is more used to Missouri temps right now. So I brought her in and she peed on the kitchen floor about a minute and a half later. Picked her up and took her out while she was doing it to see if I could get her to finish outside and to give her the idea that the kitchen wasn't the place to pee, but too late, haha! She didn't eat when on the plane, so I fixed her 1/4 can of Pedigree puppy food and she wulfed down half of it right away. So I wanted to give her some time to finish her meal, but I guess she was done and ran over to the carpet to drop a poop! As I took her out again she dropped another one, this time on me, haha. So after I knew she had eaten and had some water we went and ran around the yard. She started chasing me around so I dropped to the ground and let her get me. She jumped up on my chest and gave me another round of puppy kisses. I have to say, this girl is so well-socialized and you can really tell Deb cares a lot about them. She was so happy when I called to tell her I picked her up at the airport and then again when I notified her that little Cookie has a really good appetite. I will definitely be recommending Amazing Yorkies to anyone I know looking for a loving and healthy yorkie pup. I'll try to get a couple of pics up later, but I don't want to wake the Cookie monster up from her nap. She's such a magnificent little 14 week pup. I'm on cloud 9 with her at my side.

| Cute story! I potty trained my Bella indoors on potty pads (using the "crate training" approach) because it was later winter here and too cold for her to go outdoors when I first got her. You may find that an easier option if you continue to have issues with outdoors potty training. Also, when taking Cookie outdoors, exercise caution until a couple of weeks after her last puppy shots because unless your outdoors area is completely animal-free and has been so for months, it's possible for her to contract parvo, which can live in the soil for a very long time. |

Edit: Oops, I see that she is 14 weeks old. Be sure to check with Deb as to whether she has any remaining puppy shots left to take. Last edited by pstinard; 07-03-2013 at 09:52 AM. | |

| You sound so happy with Cookie. There's nothing better than the love of a little one to heal a broken heart. I hope Cookie is everything you dream she would be, and I wish you a lifetime of love, health, laughter, and happiness with her.

| Cookie is fourteen weeks old, but I agree with you if she just got her last shot. I've read it takes two weeks for full immunity happens after the last shot.

| Make that Cookie 3 - Chris 0. Right after he nap I had to get and go pee, and there is no way I'm leaving her on my bed alone (it would be a 30 inch jump). So I took her out to pee (ladies first after all), and after a couple of minutes she didn't have to go. So I brought her back in and right as I'm using the restroom 45 seconds later, she decided it was a good time too. Oh no, am I training her to go to the bathroom right after I bring her in???? haha

| Could be lol Did Deb say if Cookie was potty trained for pads already? It is like she doesn't know that outside is for potty and is equating inside for it. Just wondering.

| Deb said she was using the puppy pads and occasionally the doggie door. Part of it is I don't want to spend too much time outside in the heat today after she flew in (imagine that has to be stressful for a pup to leave her mom, her litter-mates, and her human mom). But she is really affectionate and has been snooping around the house and following me all day.

| She has been my little shadow. I set out a blanket for her so she can hang out by my feet when I'm on the computer, and she was fighting with the blanket in such an adorable fashion the same way Minnie used to love to do. Still haven't gotten her to go pee or poop outside yet though. She actually hasn't used the bathroom since I put up the 3-0 score a few hours ago, which seems pretty strange to me. But she has been napping a bit. Maybe she didn't get any sleep on the plane.

| Here's a couple of pics I took of Cookie today. I snapped them up right about when she was getting ready for a nap. We did a little bit of running around earlier and maybe she's a bit tired. My little girl has been eating and drinking well though. Sorry I forgot to turn the flash on for one of them so the color makes it look like I took the photo in 1968 lol. The blue-eye in the second makes her look like the T-1000!
