| We will spend the day by and in the pool. But tonight Maggie will be hiding in the closet. It doesn't matter what I give her or what I do, she goes to the back of the closet when the fireworks start. Tonight we will spend the night on the floor in closet. Buster isn't afraid of them but he will stay in the closet with us.

We will be starting our new fence project...yeah!!!! We had originally planned to spend the day on the river with our pups, but since Anna had her unexpected surgery, we will probably just hang out here at our house. We can usually see the fireworks display from our neighboring town from our yard. We'll probably watch that.

I am going to do one of the recipes y'all shared about the crock pot ribs! I have been saving up my excitement for doing these ribs since that post! I will do chicken breasts for all the babies. Side of potatoe salad, baked beans, peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream.....and as a later light "snack", ice cold watermelon...have to get the day wrapped up and everyone settled in, because half of mine are terrified of fireworks, and they will be nestled in their "safe spots"....4 cat towers, located in the master closet, where it is almost sound proof. The oher scared ones and the ones that could care less, will just nestle up close to me on the couch and my son in the recliner. Y'all all be safe, especially on the roads or watching/setting off fireworks....

The crock pot ribs turned out FABULOUSLY, meat falling off the bone, all the fat rendered so it was just meat and no hunks of fat.....absolutely fantastic! A keeper for sure! We watched the Freedon Over Texas fireworks display.....we had Martina McBride and Sheryl Crow here for the concert this year....did not seem the crowd was into it as much as past years....when the Beach Boys came, they brought the house down!!!!! Everyone was singing every song with them, and the dancing was non stop, even though it was stiffling hot that year....BRING BACK THE BEACH BOYS!!!! Now, I have to tend to my absolutely terrified Lexie....she is absolutely beside herself with terror....seems like they may have slacked off now.....she will be so happy if it stops....

Gracie stayed home today because of the oppressive heat and humidity. We were home by the time it got dark. Could just barely hear the fireworks off in the distance because the windows are closed and the AC on. She walked over to the windows a few times to check out the uncommon sounds but we acted like nothing was happening and she soon forgot about it and went back to her normal routine. We have had more than our share of thunder storms lately. She is curious about the noise but she watches her human's reactions and so far we have convinced her we can't hear a thing so she forgets about it after a while and pays no attention to the noise. I hope we can keep this up so she never develops the fear of loud noises one of our other dog's had.
