| No need to worry, everything will work out. Henri's surgery when he was neutered was pushed back a couple of times due to emergency cases that needed the vet's attention and he was still done only a half an hour later. He was neutered, teeth removed, and microchipped. Everything will be fine, you just need to find a way to distract yourself from worrying until your baby is ready to come home

Grrrr. I wish they would share that info before you go in. The little guy hasn't had food or water for Pete's sake. | |

| Praying for your baby! Will be back in your arms before you know it! Mine just got spayed on the 19th and it was harder on me than her.

| Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Update on Galen. He is home. Doing good. He has two incisions. They removed 17 teeth I picked up a little wet food for him. Don't think he is going to eat anything hard anytime soon. My poor little guy.

| YT 500 Club Member | Just saw your post. OMG! What a day for you two. I'm so glad Galen is home and recovering from his big day. I think he holds the record with 17 teeth.

| I'm glad Galen is home and doing well. 17 teeth!! That is quite a collection. Hopefully his mouth will recover quickly since they were baby teeth. I'm happy for both of you that the big day is over. Wishing Galen a speedy recovery.

| Galen of Pergamon - Roman surgeon, physician and philosopher. The name may have brought you some good luck! It sounds like Galen had a successful surgery and will be feeling much better soon. Your vet made a good choice to do the surgical procedures requiring anesthesia together to save you the expense and Galen the trauma. I would ask the vet where the retained testicle was located. My guess it was in the inguinal canal/groin area since he was released today. The testicle does not drop because the gubernaculum does not develop properly preventing the testicle to drop in the scrotum. It will instead end up in the groin area or the abdomen which is a much more involved surgery. This is good to know for Galen's health history. I am sure you are glad to have him home. He will be back to normal self in a week or sore. I am sure he is glad to have the deciduous teeth extracted - 17 is a lot but not unusual for these little breeds. FYI - AKC has done several studies on the genetics of Cryptorchidism in the Siberian Husky, Shetland Sheepdog and the Chihuahua. There is also a ton of information online. I would also inform the breeder so they can maintain complete breeding program records. All the best. |
