| I've noticed some stores that sell puppies have closed within a fifty mile radius of where I live, but I've noticed more little pet boutiques opening. Two are close to where I work, which is a very wealthy community. Many of my high school students, whose parents are mostly highly educated, have gotten their dogs from these stores and also "exclusive" breeders of mixed breeds. I always try to educate whenever possible. I will not support any stores that sell pups, and I hadn't been in one for over fifteen years. This winter I went into a beautiful little boutique that sold upscale pet clothes and supplies, children's clothing, and much to my surprise, puppies. Needless to say, I left without purchasing anything. All of these stores say that they get their pups from local breeders, but I don't believe it for a second. These boutiques are a growing trend, and that's why educating the public is so important.

| Like others I've been lucky in that I haven't been in a pet store that sold actual animals in years. One had fish, but that was it. I know there's one in town that sells puppies and other animals but I've never shopped there. Freaks me out. |

| Absolutely Lynzy! There was a link, not too long ago, showing the pet stores that were selling pets. I was surprised that one near me was still selling puppies. I have heard that the owners swear they are getting puppies from local breeders. Yeah, right....

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Barkworks umm, wonder if it is by the same owners as a Barkworks we have here in Toronto? There are a couple of stores of that name. I think once I went into one in Oakville, and there is one in downtown Toronto, which I have not been in. The one in Oakville did not sell any live animals, don't know about the Toronto one.

| I mostly shop at PET'S BEST which has better quality dog food IMO. I did stop at petsupermarket a few days past and notice birds, small rodents and cats. The cats were from a local rescue (they said) and I assume they may have dogs too. I just didn't like it at all and told the manager how I felt..they had an attitude. So.. even some of the bigger chains are selling animals.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | We have several boutiques here that sell pets. Even though I'd like to have my clothing items available in shops, I REFUSE to even offer to make things for these unscrupulous & often shady pet stores! I am with others that feel many sell byb & mill dogs. Just don't do it! Thanks Lynzy for this reminder.

| Amen Lynzy! I would never ever shop in a pet store that sells dogs/puppies. Everyone needs to stop so they will get shut down!!!
