| Jack...the 16 week old foster parent So I let Jack out earlier to play and piddle in the yard. I was with him, of course but I decided to turn the sprinkler on, on the garden quick. Since it was about 98 degrees today, everything was scorching hot so I ran inside to get gardening gloves to carry the hose. Well, when I came back to open the back door, there was Jack ready to come back inside. I noticed his head was down so I let him in and he walked very slowly inside and then laid down and plopped a little baby bird on the door mat. The little guy was unharmed and started chirping away. I was like shocked lol. Jack just sat there and looked up at me like "Look what I found mama!" He made a friend, the little bird squawked and squawked and followed him all around the dining room. I knew where it had come from too. There's been nesting sparrows in one of our bird houses and the parents chase Jack every morning on his AM bathroom break lol. So i put on my gardening gloves, gave the bird some water (he was sooo thirsty & Jack followed me all around with this bird lol) and took the little guy outside and put him back in his house. To my surprise the rest of the babies were gone too (and if they looked like this bird, they were really young). Jack and I sat and waited to see if the mother would come back and after about 20 minutes, she did...with a mouth full of food. Unfortunately, Jack now sits under the bird house on watch every time I let him out. lol. I must say, I'm so proud of him and shocked that even as a puppy, he was really gentle with the bird. Such a loving boy.

YT 2000 Club Member | That is such a sweet and unique story. I have got two sweeties, but don't know if either one of them would be as sweet as Jack was to your needy baby bird. However, I do know, without a doubt, what ever my Jasmine finds she will kill it if you don't get to it first. Her lineage must come from the Grand Daddy Ratter of them all because she is a killer. She is extremely affectionate with all people, but when it comes to vermin (or what she perceives as vermin) she goes straight for the throat. It has to be ingrained, bc we brought her home at 8 weeks. She has quickly killed rabbits, lizards, garden snakes, moles and even a full grown cardinal. I am so glad she is only 6 pounds.

| Yeah I was definitely as shocked as you all are. My Max used to try and kill everything in the yard...I suppose because Jack is still a baby, he doesn't know any better but I praised him for being such a nice boy. I hope it catches on because we always get baby birds and bunnies in the yard. All I know is, his little tail was wagging when he brought in the bird and it wags when he sits under the bird house, even though the mama and daddy birds yell at him lol.

| What a sweet boy. My two are sweet around the baby birds, but something about the squirrels is different. They go out in the yard ready to attack. I hope they never get ahold of a squirrel!

| That is so sweet! Huey wasn't nearly as kind to the baby bird he found. I wanted to cry...
