| Hair in her eyes Susie's hair is so weird. All the hair from her ears forward falls straight down in her face. When I put it in a top knot, the top knot flops forward. She has to have a top knot because otherwise she can't see. In the morning if I get busy and don't get her hair done right away she'll come up to me so pitifully and peerly so sadly through that bush as if she's saying, "Mommy, please fix my hair so I can see!" Her sister's hair naturally parts in the middle on her forehead and goes to either side along the side of her face or backward between her ears. Little Bit's hair is never in her eyes. Mom and Dad think I should get bangs cut for Susie, but I think that would look goofy. I like the longer hair and don't mind doing the topknot every day but Mom and Dad say it's mean because if she plays hard, her topknot comes loose. I think the longer her hair gets, the better it will stay up. What do you all think? Try to come down on my side of this controversy, please, pretty please! No really, say what you think. |

| My husband hates the topknot look and has told me not to "girl up" our male puppy. He wants me to just cut Matthias's bangs as they get too long. Personally I have been putting in the topknot when the husband isn't home. hehehehe It's hard though cause Matthias isn't used to it and squirms the whole time.

| I like the topknots too. As long as you have the time/patience and the pup is willing to sit there for it, why not? It's adorable! Maybe you could try a little styling gel or hair spray to try to get the topknot to flop backwards or to make the hair lay correctly. Pixie's hair is long enough for one, but she's such a little wiggleworm it's hard to do them on her. They always end up crooked or too tight! My hubby isn't a huge fan of it either (even though Pixie is a girl), but he can just deal with it |

| Susie's good about sitting still. In fact, she likes to be brushed and seems grateful about getting her hair out of her eyes. I sometimes get her topknot crooked, but I don't usually press my luck by trying to redo it. I'm getting better with practice. I like the idea of some gel. I'm going to try it. |

| I like the topknot too. How about pulling it up like a topknot but letting the band go further and further up (not around and around the same spot) then the weight of it lets it lay back on the head. Make sense? I want to add that that is not "weird", but actually much desired. A LOT of people wish they had enough to even begin working on a topknot |

| Yeah, the around and around higher and higher makes sense. I might try that. |

| Oh my gosh, I just thought of something! It sounds like little Susie has enough hair to try a french braid! I think that would look adorable! |

| Julz: That is the funniest avitar Are you getting the little band you use for the top knot tight enough?? I use the tiny ones and wrap it around three or four times on my puppies, and their hair is getting longer now at 9 months old so it stays in for at least a few days before it starts looking messy and I take it out and redo it...not any trouble at all. Maybe try putting the band on tighter

| You might want to try a band and a barrett? If you pull it back in the band you can use a barrett to hold it in place...

| I have a 15-week old with the absolute worst stuff called hair that I have ever seen in my life. His hair matts - and he won't let me be in the same room with him with a comb or brush. He actually starts crying before I even touch him. And, I have never hurt him grooming him or combing him. He's just a big boob! His hair is quickly changing from black to sliver (and it seems to be the "black hair" that is causing all the problems. Perhaps it is some sort of puppy hair. Anyway - it is growing out and disappearing - thank God - and I think (only thinking so far) that the silver hair coming in is going to be much nicer. So - I gave my little fella a good short hair cut. He won't be having a topknot for a while at least. My plan is to always keep in him a puppycut - but eventually, I would like to grow enough on the top to have a little topknot. I am doing everything I can right now to keep from having to traumatize him with any grooming issues. I'm afraid that I can't take either side with your question. I think Yorkies are darling with or without topknots. Carol Jean |

| Susie has mounds of hair, but I don't know how to do a french braid. However, my sister does so next time she comes I'll get her to show me. Susie loves her so I think she'll sit still for her on the second day of my sister's visit. I think the first day Susie will be too wiggly for demonstrations. |

| Ouch! I think I'd do a short haircut too if Susie tangled like your little guy. I'm surprised she doesn't. I think she has a cotton coat, but it's not tangly. Actually, I wouldn't say if feels like cotton. It feels more like milkweed fluff to me. It's really, really soft and fluffy. It's so fluffy she looks downright fat beside her silky coated sister and the other dog actually weighs more. But Susie sure does feel good to cuddle with. |

| crazy bangs My poor LillyBear is 5 months old now and she is my first Yorkie. She hates having anything in her hair even though my mom has bought her the most adorable tiny little barrettes in several styles. As soon as the torture of putting these things in her hair is over, She immediately runs off to try to get them out. She is very small (3 lbs) and behaves more like a toddler than a dog. This hair dilemma is driving us all crazy. Unless we are constantly pushing that hair out of her eyes, she is virtually blinded by the bangs falling forward and the hair from the top of her nose which shoots out up and sideways regardless of how often we wet it down and push in down. Help!!!!! |
