I have a 15-week old with the absolute worst stuff called hair that I have ever seen in my life.

His hair matts - and he won't let me be in the same room with him with a comb or brush. He actually starts crying before I even touch him. And, I have never hurt him grooming him or combing him. He's just a big boob!

His hair is quickly changing from black to sliver (and it seems to be the "black hair" that is causing all the problems. Perhaps it is some sort of puppy hair. Anyway - it is growing out and disappearing - thank God - and I think (only thinking so far) that the silver hair coming in is going to be much nicer.

So - I gave my little fella a good short hair cut. He won't be having a topknot for a while at least. My plan is to always keep in him a puppycut - but eventually, I would like to grow enough on the top to have a little topknot.

I am doing everything I can right now to keep from having to traumatize him with any grooming issues.

I'm afraid that I can't take either side with your question. I think Yorkies are darling with or without topknots.
