| Advice needed, please. Hi everyone, So Cooper spends the day in a large x-pen while I am at work, goes potty on his potty pads and everything was wonderful until he learned to lift his leg to pee. Now while he thinks he is going potty on the pad, he is actually spraying the pee outside of the pen. He will be neutered on June 26, and I don't know if this is a marking issue, or whether he likes to pee on the corner of the pen now that he lifts his leg. I've taken to putting a potty pad outside of the pen to protect the flooring, but is there anything else that I can do? Has anyone else had this issue, or is it just Cooper?

| I remember reading that one member used to tape potty pads to the wall where her boy liked to 'go'.

| Depending how tall you would need it. I've seen the litterboxes that people put pee pads. Pet Supply Plus also sells a pee pad holder that has a back. I use mine against the tub.

| In the meantime, would it work for you to tape a pad up the side of the pen, too? Yes, you'll end up using twice as many pads but it should save you some headache. Ooh, and give him something to aim at- like a water bottle taped in place. Also, I don't think that having him altered will change how he pees- if he's a leg lifter now, he always will be. It may help with marking, though.

| I agree with the suggestions above, and I can tell you that neutering doesn't stop leg lifting. Max has been lifting his leg since he was 13 weeks old. When we were done with the xpen, we moved the pad about 6 inches away from the wall. Now he does a ballet move with one foot off the floor, but it is kind of a squat. He still lifts his leg fully outside.
