YT 2000 Club Member | Om Goodness....he is so cute! As far as the marking.....we adopted Max when he was 1 1/2 yrs and not neutered. We had him neutered because he was marking & humping every thing & body! The humping stopped but not the marking! Max does mark when he is stressed or upset! He is also an OCD licker! Congrats & best of luck!

| He's really really a cutie-pie! I'd have him neutered asap. I'd re-consider the idea of crate training. It can help a lot. If done properly, a crate can become a place of comfort and relaxation. If you're set against it, then limit his access to your entire home and keep him confined to one room while in training. Have lots of patience. These little guys know how to sneak a pee in a corner, under a bed or chair - so you have to know where he is and what he's doing when you're with him. Also, he'll want to mark every chair & table leg -- and you may not notice until you see him sneaking back under the table. I've had Lucy for about 8 months. She is confined to my kitchen when I'm not home and only goes to other rooms when I'm there too. I've only recently extended her privileges to include our family room. She's fairly well-trained but not free to roam my house yet. When she sleeps with me, I keep my door closed. I still keep a pee pad at my bedroom door, just in case - and she has used it in the middle of the night. Someone here mentioned the belly bands and I think that's a great idea for the time being. He has a long life ahead and much time to become a very well-behaved boy. You might also consider taking some behavioral classes so that he becomes accustomed to listening to you and your commands. He's really a beauty. And he's really still a baby. So, have fun with the experience! Good luck. Tracey Last edited by luvlee; 06-13-2013 at 03:19 PM. |

| he is a cutie that is for sure. My advice along with the first vet visit is to have a complete blood work panel done on him. a good vet would require this anyway before neutering, but pay a little extra for a full blood work up, not just the pre surgery panel. I also will be curious to see if the vet confirms the age. Good luck and let us know what the vet says. Patience I imagine will be needed on the potty training, sounds like he has had no clue and if you have other dog smells in your home, the marking will be worse, two words on that; BELLY BANDS will be your friend
