he is a cutie that is for sure. My advice along with the first vet visit is to have a complete blood work panel done on him. a good vet would require this anyway before neutering, but pay a little extra for a full blood work up, not just the pre surgery panel.
I also will be curious to see if the vet confirms the age. Good luck and let us know what the vet says. Patience I imagine will be needed on the potty training, sounds like he has had no clue and if you have other dog smells in your home, the marking will be worse, two words on that; BELLY BANDS will be your friend
