| Isabella's been kind of antisocial lately Hi everyone. My Isabella has been behaving a little different lately. She recently turned 5 years old on May 21st. I've noticed for the last few months she has seem A little withdrawn. She's always been a pretty relaxed dog when there are no new people around but I've noticed that she seems more to herself lately. She has always loved going in her crate to get away from the other yorkies when we lived with my mom but now she just seems a little sad. She lays in her crate for hours sometimes and doesn't want to come out. Sometimes she just looks at me and when I go towards her she runs into the crate again. She isn't sick or anything and she eats regularly. My husband has a little pekingese that adores Bella but Bella would rather be alone. I'm thinking because she's getting older but she's only 5. I'm not sure if there's anything to worry about, it's just a little odd. Does anyone have any ideas or similar situations? |

| I would take her to the vet to make sure something isn't wrong. Changes in behavior are more often than not an indicator of illness or injury. When Max's behavior changed, I discovered he had a corneal ulcer. Best wishes for Isabella.

| Is she lonesome for a playmate?? Since I don't really know your situation, I'm making a guess as to what's up. I hope she is back to her happy self very soon. I'm sure that if nothing has changed recently then you have thought about taking her to the vet. I would.

| Yes, A visit to the vet would be the best. Maybe nothings wrong, but it's always a good idea to get them checked when they aren't being their usual selves.

| Change in behavior is one reason to get a dog to the vet, even if nothing else seems wrong. It is common for sick or hurting dogs to want to isolate and avoid contact with people and other dogs. I would get her in, get her labs done, checked for worms, heartworm, liver, bladder, heart, lungs, kidneys, orthopedic and neuro problems, etc. Get a urine test along with the rest. So the first thing is to be sure she isn't ill or hurting. I know you are worried but finding out if something is medically wrong and getting her help is her surest way to getting back to her old self. If she's entirely normal medically, then it's likely something going on her daily life that is upsetting or worrying her and we can go from there.
