| Normal Weight Hey guys, I know what I'm going to talk is pretty general and might be all over internet, but I'd like to ask personally from yorkie owners here. How many kgs do yorkies normally weigh? I searched in inet, that they actually are 1.5 kg to 4 kg max. But there are also some websites that say particular cases can also reach 15 pounds, is it around 7.5 kg? My Bei is 5 kg and some already said that he's outside measurement. Because the prev owner said usually for exhibitions it can't reach more than 4 kgs or they're out of requirement. But her owner is qualified breeder and trainer in Italy that has won exhibitions and has pedigree certificate What do u think guys? Is it common to find what some people call heavy pure yorkies? from 5 to 7 kgs? So far I've seen 3, maybe there are more.

Our standards include an upper weight limit of 7lbs. Roughly 3kg. Having said that there is no disqualification in the show ring if the dog exceeds 7lbs. This means if your dog is slightly over the weight standard; sure you can see dogs weighing more than 7lbs in the ring. It is not un-common to see pure-bred Yorkies weighing in from 5 to 7kg or 10+ to 15+ lbs. We have a Teapot Club here on the board with Yorkies that are in that weight range. At 5kg here for competitions or 10+ pounds your female would definitely be considered outside of the standard on the weight. It certainly does not mean she is not a purebred Yorkie. Every litter bred, can have the outliers. Those pups that are tracking to be either tiny, or larger than average. Those dogs are not usually kept for breeding and or showing. Some can make wonderfull sport/performance dogs, etc. Hope this answers your questions.

| Yorkies used to be bigger then what they are now so there are still some throw backs in there lines. There are many pure bigger Yorkies at least in the US so I am sure other places too.

Actually my friend's yorkie weighs about 7.5kg in normal weight, if he's slim, he can be 7kg. And his mother was 6 kg (less because is a female). And I've seen other female weighs 6kgs and she also has her pedigree certificate. I don't know why many websites, including Wikipedia, say that Yorkies are usually 4kgs max... only one or two that really say it can reach 15 pounds, that I assume around 7.5 in kilogram.
