Our standards include an upper weight limit of 7lbs. Roughly 3kg.
Having said that there is no disqualification in the show ring if the dog exceeds 7lbs. This means if your dog is slightly over the weight standard; sure you can see dogs weighing more than 7lbs in the ring.
It is not un-common to see pure-bred Yorkies weighing in from 5 to 7kg or 10+ to 15+ lbs. We have a Teapot Club here on the board with Yorkies that are in that weight range.
At 5kg here for competitions or 10+ pounds your female would definitely be considered outside of the standard on the weight.
It certainly does not mean she is not a purebred Yorkie.
Every litter bred, can have the outliers. Those pups that are tracking to be either tiny, or larger than average. Those dogs are not usually kept for breeding and or showing. Some can make wonderfull sport/performance dogs, etc.
Hope this answers your questions. |
Wow, yes that answered, thanks a lot for ur time to write this long answer. Thanks even for explaining the measurement the Americans use.

I really don't know how they turn smaller and smaller, as the toy breed doesn't exist they say (I just knew about it from BEI's breeder 2 months ago as I thought there were and "toy" becomes the catchword of many sellers to boost their yorkies prices, but BEI's breeder told me it's a lie as this breed doesn't exist), only some turn out to be mini and some other normal.

Actually my friend's yorkie weighs about 7.5kg in normal weight, if he's slim, he can be 7kg. And his mother was 6 kg (less because is a female). And I've seen other female weighs 6kgs and she also has her pedigree certificate.
I don't know why many websites, including Wikipedia, say that Yorkies are usually 4kgs max... only one or two that really say it can reach 15 pounds, that I assume around 7.5 in kilogram.
