| Size at 13 weeks This is my second post today, I got a great response with my last question. Sometimes one question leads to another. I was curious about my Chloe's weight at 13 weeks, so I just weighed her and she is now 5 pounds! Her mom is 5 pounds and dad is 3. I know that there is no way to know exactly what she will weigh eventually, but wondered if any of you may have had a dog similar and could give me an idea what to expect. I know the charts are not necessarily a good way to estimate, but she's so far off the charts! Does this seem unusually big for her age? I love her no matter what size she will be, but just curious. |

| I don't have any advice but my yorkie is 12 weeks today and weighed in at 1.5 lbs last time she was weighed (about a week ago). I'm no expert in fact I am new to the breed but I think 5 lbs at 13 weeks is a little larger. BUT that just means more to love!! |

| At 12.5 weeks, my morkie weighed 2lbs 8oz. I think your little girl weighs more than average...which I think is fun! More to snuggle! I kind of wish Toby would be on the bigger end of average because he would be sturdier than a tiny doggy. Oh and Toby's parents are the same weight range as your pup's parents.

| She could be on her way to joining the Teapot Club. Yorkies have to be over 7 lbs to join. Like the others said, just more to love! Welcome to YT, btw.

| When I decided I wanted a yorkie, I had visions of tiny puppies. My Chloe is not tiny by some yorkie standards, but considering our last dog who passed away after 13 years was a 75 pound lab, she's very small! I have two teenagers and live in the country on 20 acres, so a "teacup" would probably not fit in as well in our world. Like said, more to love and sturdier to boot! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Lots of breeders say that the mother is 5 pounds and the dad is 3. I think they say this so that the person buying the dog will think the grown pup will be between those two sizes. A good breeder knows that's not how it works. Many good breeders breed a 7 pound mom to a 6 pound dog and end up with 4 pound grown adults, it just depends on the line. Did you actually see the parents? Anyway, an estimate of your dogs grown adult weight would be to double the 12 week weight and add or subtract a pound. So I would guess Chloe would be around 10 pounds as a grown adult, which is still very small for a dog.

Hi, it is hard you say exactly how much your little one will weigh.. It is mostly a wait & see kinda thing but if I had to guess I would say she would be around the same size as my boy.. Oscar's Mom 5 lbs Dad 4 lbs My Oscar was 4 1/2 lbs @ 13 weeks. Now @ almost 2 years (sept 18) he is 9 lbs.. Over the 7 lb standard but Trust me still a tiny dog..

| Thanks for all the replies! Nancy1999, I did see Chloe's parents and I must say, being a new yorkie owner, I could not have told the difference between a 5 pound mom and 7 pound! Of course the minute Chloe ran up to my daughter and I with the best personality I have ever seen in a puppy, it would not have mattered if she told me she would weigh 20 pounds full grown! It was love at first sight. Also, I like that she has a greater size because with our busy lifestyle, she will be a girl on the go and I assume better suited to attention by all who she will be surrounded by! |

Agreed, Tufty's mum was 71/2 lbs and his dad was 41/2lbs, I was hoping he'd be on his mothers side weight wise but he's 4lbs and staying. Doggy genes are funny. My breeder got a 10 pounder and a 5 pounder out of the same litter

| I am not sure if it is normal, but Barney was supposed to have been a teapot. We purposefully looked for a larger puppy. At 10 weeks, he was 3.4 pounds. He was way off the charts at that time. He is now nearing 6 months and only weighs a little more than 4 pounds. He is tall and lean. We are hoping he will get to around 7 pounds so that he won't appear to be so frail. However, I have read that some puppies can have their growth spurts fairly early and then slow way down. |

| Your baby is gunna be bigger than "standard", but I personally prefer them to be bigger! They're far less fragile and generally healthier. As others have said; more to love

| Keno was 4.8 lbss at 13 weeks. Now at 32 months just under 16 lbs. Dam was 6 lbs , sire was 5 lbs. I knew Keno would be large. That is what I wanted. |
