I know that there is no way to know exactly what she will weigh eventually, but wondered if any of you may have had a dog similar and could give me an idea what to expect. I know the charts are not necessarily a good way to estimate, but she's so far off the charts! Does this seem unusually big for her age? I love her no matter what size she will be, but just curious.
A lot of sources give a rule of thumb to double the weight at 12 weeks to get an estimate of the adult weight. That would put Chloe at close to 10 pounds at adulthood, which is on the large side. The breed standard is an adult weight not to exceed 7 pounds, but I'd much rather have a Yorkie on the large side than one that is too small and has health problems because of it. But, anything could happen, so enjoy the changes and transformations that Chloe goes through, and be sure to take plenty of photos .
