For all of you living in east-central Illinois, I got her hair cut at Pampered Pet Grooming in Champaign, Illinois. The workers were fawning all over her and taking their own pictures, and they said that she was a good little girl during the whole procedure. That's amazing to me, because she will hardly let me brush her, LOL! Without further ado, here are her before and after photos...

What a little doll she look amazing, but I got to say I love the expression on her face in the first picture, she looks like she's got quite a personality! The color difference is remarkable. That’s never happened to Joey or Ralphie, I get their bodies short/shaved and their legs long, and right after a cut their saddle look darker, almost black, but as it grows in you can see the silvery look to it. I've never seen this type of transformation before.

Yes, she's a little scamp, and the haircut didn't change that at all. She just took a zipper off a sleeping bag, LOL! But instead of glowering at me from under her mop of matted hair, she's looking at me with big, innocent eyes, as if she's saying, "Did I do that?"

I just took a look at some of Joey's photos, and the photo with the short hair on the body and the long flowing hair on the legs is the look I'm trying to try to get for Bella, now that she's losing her puppy coat. I didn't realize there were so many differences between Yorkies in coat color! Now that her adult coat is coming in, I need to take another look at the coat color thread...

Ha ha, yes she looks like a little scamp! Well, there's a dark blue that has the metallic shine to it and a light blue that has the metallic shine. The good news is that coats with the metallic shine are more likely to be silky coats and silky coat is so much easier to care for. If they are pure black, they often have more of a cotton coat, but some say they have seen pure black silk coats. Oh I just remembered this site, it talks about the Eye shine and silky coats. You’ll have no problem understanding it! I think the 2 progressive graying genes are responsible for how light or dark blue they are. Eye Shine

I started to read through the coat color thread, and it's very complex, based on the patterns of where the blue and tan patches are located. Since I didn't have Bella sitting right in front of me at the time, I couldn't do a complete analysis, but I could conclude that either she will have the breed standard colors in all the right places, OR the blue patches will be too light in color (I think that's the dark blue vs. the light blue you are describing--too early to tell). However she turns out, though, it's exciting watching the colors develop. Now that the puppy coat has been removed, the underlying hair feels much silkier. Her eyes reflect blue in the flash, so that's a good sign too. I hadn't heard the coat color described as metallic, but that's exactly what I'm seeing--the blue patches shine like silver, and the tan patches shine like bright copper. She's so beautiful, and I never realized that those beautiful colors were hiding under her thick black puppy coat! Bella is blue and tan, but I'm tickled pink .

Interesting information on Eye Shine! So if it is correct, Teeka will have a gold cast and Tatiana will have a Blue cast to her coat. Max has the metallic gold cast to his coat and he just shimmers in the sunlight! My DH & I were just talking about this last night!

You're right about her not looking like the same dog. I've been free-feeding her and was a little worried that she was getting overweight, even though they say that puppies rarely get overweight. Well, after the puppy coat came off, I realized that what I thought was baby fat was just puffy fur, and now I realize that she's at a perfect weight. And what I really like about her new color is the metallic sheen--silver and copper .
