| Did you keep your vet bills and your receipt for the purchase of the puppy because if you did you could go into small claims court and try getting it back that way

| ♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | Offering my support as well...please don't blame yourself for this. These little ones grab hold of our hearts, right from jump!! From that point we are hooked! We love them with everything we've got. We do the very best we can, bc we love them so....how were you to know that this so called breeder would sell you a sick pup? Like Yorkiemom1 said he was waaaay to young to have left momma to begin with, and issues don't show up until they start to get bigger...his little body can't handle whatever the issue is and so he fails to thrive. My God he was less that 2lbs when you brought him home! He literally has no reserves to help him fight whatever is going on! She is a piece of work! How can anyone just sit and watch him go downhill?? He should have been taken to the vet ASAP! Tomorrow may be too late to do anything to save the little guy! No reputable breeder would allow this to happen...she should have moved heaven and earth to try and save him....trust me hun, I have seen breeders jump through hoops to save their pup. This thread has me in tears....She is the one to blame for this, not you!

So that means we all make mistakes. So learn from them. There are great articles here on how to find a responsible ethical breeder. What I have always stressed is to research the breeder first, do NOT look at puppy pics, or heaven forfend actual pups, cause guess what most if not all pups are cute, and then you are more likely to make decisions with your heart and not your head. The one thing I think that is not in the article is to verify through the various health databases what actual health testing has been done on the breeding pair. This one is very important - as well as inquiring into the health history of the lines the breeder is breeding. There are folks on here willing to help out with researching a breeder, even some breeders themselves ![]() When I picked out my pup, I had 3 visits with the puppies, one at 8wks old, one at 10 wks old, and the last visit at 12 wks old. I was looking for a specific type of puppy in structure and temperament. My breeder who is also my trainer for my big dogs, I knew quite well. I was lucky in that. There was a very beautifull male pup with incredible structure, not quite as outgoing as Razzle, but he had one undescended testicle. We kept hoping that that testicle would descend! It didn't at least not by 12wks old. We that is the breeder and I were down to 2 male pups with the right temperament and structure. Finally I made my decision between the two. And this is where and when my heart came in. I chose the pup with the most appealing personality to me! And as luck would have it, I needed to agree to show him, if his show potential materialized. So that is my story. Take your time always. The good breeders have waiting lists. The very very good breeders you might wait for 2 yrs or more to have a puppy of theirs. I have been on a list for 2yrs and still counting for my next BRT. Although my situation is slightly different as I am a breeder of a Rare Breed. Well it certainly looks like a wrote a bible here sorry for the wordiness. Just hoping for a bright light for you and Joey. Take care. We are here for you.

| Journals and diarys are admissable in court...keep everything, all receipts, the letters from the vet, like stated above you have a journal of activity just from your entries here in YT....keep everything...this is all going to work on YOUR behalf in small claims court. When we find out who this breeder is, there is nothing like a little publicity to persuade people to do the right thing..... |

| Maybe I am being naive, but doesn't the breeder have to provide vet care to the puppy under the law? Can't animal control be notified for failure to provide vet care to a sick dog?
