| Is this normal or ok? My step mom and my self just got yorkie puppies from different breeders. They are a day apart in age. They are 13 weeks old now. We have had a few play dates for them. I also have two other dogs in my home so Halie is use to playing with other dogs. Well the last two times we got the two pups together after a while they started fighting to the point we had to seperate them. We kept them in the same room and were holding them and they were fine. I think halie just gets tired and doesn't want romp around and Harley is just go go go. I couldn't tell which one started it. They sat on our laps and took a nap and then were fine with each other. She is more laid back then he is. I just don't want them to fight every time they are together. She doesn't fight like that with my other dogs. It has happened once at my house and once at theirs. Any input would be great! Thanks!! |

| Well I would say to introduce them slowly. If they both have the same temperament then maybe not as slow. I do suppose that every now and again that dogs may fight. Especially during the initial meetings. This is why they should always be supervised. They are going to try and establish a pecking order and I would suspect that whoever home it is, that would be the aggressor. Overtime they will be fine. Keep supervised interactions so you can separating them when they get overly aggressive. If they both have good temperaments individually, I don't see this being a problem long term.

| Also, I would be very, very careful that their 'play-fighting' doesn't develop into something a little more 'amorous' as they get older Good luck! Sally + Harry x |

| My Teddy likes to wrestle. When we first brought him home, he wrestled Max roughly and annoyed him. I had never seen 2 dogs play, so I didn't know what to think. Sometimes it did get out of hand and one of them would end up yelping. This is their way of alerting the other one that things have gone too far. Puppies can play rough, but I think you are doing the right thing stepping in when necessary. I would intervene when there is biting on the back. Teach them "no bite" and things like "settle down." Start obedience/trick training both of them now. Puppies tend to learn faster than adults. The training will help focus them. Work with them individually and together. When my boys start wrestling too hard, I redirect their attention to something else. I grab a few pieces of kibble and ask them to do tricks or we play fetch. They happily oblige. Best wishes.
