| Thinning coat?? Help My little Tinkerbell's coat is thinning out and I don't know what to do. Is it normal? She is now 6 months, so I don't know if it's a stage some yorkies go through. Any ideas? Ive uploaded a picture of her current coat, but for some reason it wouldnt let me upload another picture for her before, hopefully i can figure it out. She used to have a thicker coat with a lot for fur on her chest and tummy. However now it's really thin. Thanks! |

| Got it! Here's her picture at about 4 months when it was nice and thick. Last edited by Alishacasano; 05-24-2013 at 08:08 PM. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Oh my goodness...she is such a doll!! I don't know anything about this unless its her shampoo and conditioners maybe. Perhaps stress even. I'm sure that someone who knows what they're are talking about will come along soon. I hope you get some answers. She really is a cutie.

| I can only assume her coat is changing? Their hair tends to be a bit different from when they are puppies to when they are adults. My last boy stayed fluffy and was cotton coated so I'm not too familiar however, with other Yorkies I have come in contact with, when the hair gets longer and they get their adult "long and silky" hair, it most likely won't be as thick as their puppy coat. Hope that helps and hope someone else can add on!

| Nothing to worry about here, the Yorkie is simply losing the puppy coat and "adult" hair is forming. Make sure you brush from the bottom up and don't yank tangles out, and always use quality conditioner after a bath. (contrary to belief), I've always used Loreal Ever-Pure sulfate free conditioner - can be found at Target, Walmart. It's about $8.99, but one tube lasts 8-9 months. |

| My Eva has a silky coat and she went through what I called an "ugly duckling stage" between 5 and 6 months. She looked pitiful. But now she is just over 7 months and her coat is growing in thicker and longer, the swan is blossoming. Bella didn't go through the "ugly duckling stage", she has a modified coat, I think , she seems to be in between both the cotton and silky coat. She didn't lose much of her puppy coat, if any at all, and it just continues to grow long. I use a natural shampoo and conditioner on both, Yorkie Splash & Shine, and also a detangler/conditioner when I brush them daily. I continued to use it on Eva everyday, even though her coat was sparse. Your puppy is adorable and the photo is precious, thanks for sharing.
