| It looks like MA is a six month state. Lucky ducks! If that has not changed then you can wait quite a bit longer.

| My concern also.....I do not ever advocate rabies shots until 6-8 months old...the Yorkies have some size on them by then.....and I never give it with any other vaccines.....we do not have a problem with Lepto down here, so majority of our vets do not give it because of the reaction a lot of small dogs, esp. Yorkies, have to it. You need to find out if your baby did get Lepto in er series, and either refuse to give it again, or premedicate with Benadryl, wait 15-20 minutes and give the vaccines, then hang around the vet for 20-30 minutes afterwards. Also, stress can make sugar drop....and she already isnt eating....shivering can cause sugar to drop also.......give her some NutriCal....keep her warm...take her back into the vet this am if she isnt better.....dont go into the weekend with a sick baby!!! |

| I am very happy to hear that Bella is back to herself. We opted not to do Lepto vaccines. Many articles I read said that the vaccine covers only 4 strains, and there are many more out there. Some sources say that the vaccine has to be given every 6 months to be truly effective even against that small number of strains. The risk of Lepto is scary, so definitely a discussion to have with your vet.

| Donating YT 500 Club Member | Lepto ... I remember on Jasper's first vet visit he looked at her shot record from the breeder and told his assistant he was surprised she had given that to the pups at such an early age. Good to know. Next yorkie (and there will be another) will come from a different breeder. Beth, I'm so glad that Bella is doing much better. I can imagine how worried you were. Made me take Jasper and cover him with kisses....much to his dislike at the time. He was playing with Piper the cat and I interrupted

| I got my puppy vaccinated for rabies at 16 weeks and the vet said it best to have no other shots given on the same visit. The next day i carelessly told my little zoey for a walk and after he came home she could not stand on her back legs. She began shaking and even pee on her bed. I call the vet who suggested i give her a little honey to see if she perked up. She still was not back to normal so i took her in. The said most likely her blood sugar dropped because she only ate in the morning. Long and scary story short i suggest you know all the side affects and make sure you are able to be with your puppy after he/she gets her shots. Also have the number to a 24 hr vet. I was extremely worry at the time, but she is better now. |
