| Lack of Communication We see posts where a buyer to be is upset with the breeder. They wanted a puppy and the puppy was sold out from underneath them. Breeder will not send pictures. Breeder does not get back with them on a timely basis. The list goes on and on. Unless you have bred a litter of puppies you have know idea about the number of phone calls- letters and e-mails- people just stopping by your front door that you will get concerning your puppies. WE have to try and determine which is a real/true inquiry , someone playing games or the newbie who wants to pick your brain. We try to take time and answer your questions, give you all the information that you want about a certain puppy or breeding. Some times this will go on over months. You would be suprised at the number of people who will tell you" I want that puppy" "I will send you a deposit today". A week goes by and we can't reach you and there is no check. We have no idea what is going on- we try some more to reach you and then place you pupy with someone else. You will finally get back and state " where is my puppy" and you are upset. When you contact a breeder- be upfront. If you are just shopping around looking and wanting information tell the person I am not interested in purchasing at this time. Please do not use the pretense that you want to buy as a way to obtain information. Most of us love to talk dog and will talk with you regardless if you want to buy a dog from us or not. Look at all of us-here we are- on this forum- talking and sharing thoughts- ideas and dreams for the future. If you state that you are interested in that breeders stock be genuine. If you state you are sending a deposit do it- or contact the breeder back and tell them you have changed your mind. We will not bite your head off- we understand that things happen. When you leave us hanging- it will backfire on you. I talk to my freinds and will warn them about you. You have just hurt your chances with a number of breeders who may have just that puppy that you want. Your dealings with me may have a effect on if they want to place trust and confidence in you as a adoptive family. |

| Thanks, Kathy! It's good for us to see things from a breeder's perspective. |

| Good post Kathy - Goes to show it's best to be forthright in any sort of business dealing. I don't breed, but can imagine all the problems you might have --now that you point some of them out. Carol Jean |

| I don't see how someone could be upset with the breeder. They are not going to wait forever for you to make up your mind or send the money. Fair is fair. Yorkies are in such high demand that almost everyone wants one. I know breeders get tons of phone calls every day from interested people. So, if I meet a breeder and see a puppy I am interested in, I will definitly send a deposit. Most breeders are nice enough to work with you. As long as you send some kind of money to hold your puppy, some will let you pay installments. As long as the balance is paid off before the puppy goes home. Now if I gave a breeder a deposit to hold my puppy, and she still went ahead and sold her to someone else, then I would be very upset.

| Kathy, I tried to PM you and could not so I will post here... I am looking about 6 months from now, adding another girl to the household.. I see that you show and have show quality pups listed on your site.. I also see that you hold them untill four to six months.. THANK YOU!!! I have seen so many breeders say "show quality" on six week old pups! Really? Do they have a crystal ball? I always laugh when I read that! Anyway, I thought I would start looking now since it is such a daunting task finding such a pup.. I know that my Pixie will be pretty, but I am very interested in Showing and will be looking for a girl with the right stuff! ; ) If you think you might have an up and comming girl please let me know.
