Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Just seeing this thread now and my goodness, my heart just aches for you and this precious little one . BUT, I feel like this is one strong little girl here - and these little ones can make miraculous recoveries, in full. Let's believe that's the road she is firmly on! It's a good sign, a very good sign, that she will even take food right now. Let it be a small comfort that if she *was* in tremendous pain, she wouldn't eat. So, perhaps her pain is being managed to a point, ya know? Hang in there...and please know that a lot of people are pulling for this wee one!

YT 2000 Club Member | I just read your update on Kiki.....I continue to pray for her recovery. I wish I could put my arms around you in person....I can feel your pain and your heart is so broken. Please have faith and trust in the lord as he will give you peace. If allowed, I would visit Kiki as often as possible.....your voice and touch would be a comfort for little Kiki! ((Hugs))

| One thought about holding pain med may be because pain medications can mask symptoms...he has to be aware of any neurological symptoms she may be having...that can indicate what area of her brain is affected. I am so happy she is still hanging in there....the steroids are doing her much more good than any pain medication he could give.....your vet seems on top of this. Praying for your baby..... |

| Sending prayers and best wishes For Khloe Kate/Kiki. Can you bring in old t shirts or towels with your scent on them to comfort her. I did that with Buster when he was in the hospital for a couple of days. I would sleep on a towel and rub under my armpits in the morning and then bring the towel by the hospital. I used old towels as the hospitals worry that if they get soiled and tossed in the laundry and are lost people might get upset. You and Khloe have the YT power of prayers behind you.

| Just checking for updates..... But, a ray of hope.... our little blue born, Mack Brown got Parvo after 5 rounds of vaccinations..Our vet thought for sure he wouldn't make it...... he had opened him up for exploratory surgery and that hindered his outcome.. He fought hard to survive because we were there,,,,, holding him when he couldnt even lift his little head, telling him we loved him so much....these babies know they are loved and they WILL fight to go back home..... stay strong... Mack came home and is a beautiful, playful, happy baby today...so will KiKi!!!

| My dog has been very sick and I just couldn't read your thread before today. I agree with Yorkiemom1 that docs don't like to give much pain medicine with severe head injuries for fear of suppression of something they need to know about. If something is taking place in the brain, they don't need a pain medication dampening evidence of it. Steroids are exactly what she needs to reduce swelling/inflammation, which can cut off blood supply/nutrients to the brain and slows healing, increases swelling. Swelling makes more swelling and more damage. Better to hurt badly than have a worse injury. Tough to hear but it's a fact. Eating is encouraging but her reluctance to stand can be from dizziness/nausea and weakness from an injury to the area controlling standing that needs to heal. I'm praying for your girl and for you.
