Yes indeed, I did do a forum search. The great debate is whether to wait until after the first heat to do a spaying, or whether to do it before--there are two major lines of thought and it hasn't been definitively resolved yet. My vet told me to have it done before the first heat, at 5 months, but my research indicated that female Yorkies often don't go into heat until around 7 or 8 months, so that's why I was thinking of asking my vet if I could have it done at 6 months. I'll see what her baby teeth are doing at 6 months, and if most of them have come out by then, I'll probably have the spaying and dental extraction done then. If her teeth are still in the process of coming out, I might nervously wait a little longer. I don't want the teeth yanked out before they are ready to be yanked out, but I don't want her spayed during her first heat, either
