| Is there another dog around that could taste it first? Joel wouldn't touch his toothpaste or carsick medicine so I gave it to my bigger dog first and it works every time, Joel gobbles it up now It's almost like he has to make sure it's not poisoned first lol |

| I had a really difficult time brushing my pup's teeth. So I use dental wipes instead. They've worked really well for us. In fact, Yoshi skipped his dental 2 months ago. This is the brand I use: Amazon.com: 8in1 D.D.S. Dental Wipes, 90-Count:... I'm not sure if it's the best brand, but it works for us.

| I use the CET poultry flavor. Huey loves the taste and jumps up and down when he sees me put it on his toothbrush. Unfortunately, he doesn't let me brush his teeth, but if I give him the toothbrush with the toothpaste on it, he chews on it for hours, so I feel like that is better than nothing. He is 4 and hasn't had to have a dental yet. The vet says he teeth look good. I know I have posted this video before, so apologies to those who have already seen it, but here is Huey brushing his own teeth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvP5...e_gdata_player

| Something you might want to try, that I have to do with Mandie, is get a super small brush (I got this idea from kjc here on the forum). I get those Wisp disposable toothbrushes for people. I use a knife and pop out the little bead in the middle. Then, I have always used coconut oil to brush her teeth. She hates the taste of all the toothpastes I have tried. Every now and then I will sneak some in on her but 100% of the time that I brush her teeth, it's with coconut oil. She loves it! She thinks it's a treat. I have to let her lick a little first and then brush (trying to get to the brushing before she eats all the coconut oil lol)

| I am going to have to re-do training with Jackson, he just his cleaning today at the vets because I have slacked and not brushed for months.... But what we did before to get him used to it, was I initially trained him to come into the bathroom with me every night. No tooth brushes, paste, etc. Just .. you get a treat for coming into the bathroom. After a few days of that, I started bringing the brush and paste in. I would let him sniff it, put it on the ground, and put the treats around the brush so he would associate it with positive things. After a week of that, I began lifting his lip up, clicking and treating. No brushing yet at this point. After another week, we began the brushing part. So it took about 2 weeks of de-sensitizing and then he just became used to it and it became routine. We use CET beef flavored. He tolerates it more than any other flavors.
