| ![]() I once had a dog with hip deformity. I can tell you that a healthy diet with supplements do make a huge difference. The longer you can maintain the connective tissue in the joint the more comfortable they will be. If surgery is indicated it is the best route to take for the sake of the dog but you still want to keep the connective tissue as intact as possible. If she is favoring the joint already she may very well need surgery. You may want to look for a vet that has experience with this type of deformity. You don't want to put out money to a vet that has very little knowledge about the issue. Has he treated many Yorkies? If you do go with supplements do it sparingly at first as some dogs do have sensitivities to them. Give a very small dosage and only add one at at time so if there is a reaction you know which one the dog is reacting to. Hoping for the best. |

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() She is taking half tab of cosequin. Vet wants to wait, surgery may not be needed right now. Her acl doesn't seem torn or ruptured. Just sprang. We will wait for improvements, then go from there. Thanks for all your prayers and advice.
