which to get My just turned one year old has been having a skip with her walking fast lately. Called the vets office if she needs to be seen for this and they just said to keep an eye on her if it gets worse. Started in January 2013, still the same, seems like no pain, plays runs jumps everything. I checked her knees, they are both fine. Should I get her on cosequinn, or glucosamine or something else? Vets office said that won't help her. Need advice! |
Sounds like LP you might want to talk to an orthopedic surgeon to find out how bad it is. |
Why won't the vet see her? That's weird. Can you try another vet? My friend had a similar situation. Her pup was favoring another leg & hopping. It wasn't LP though. It was just inflamed. They put the pup on medication & bed rest and it eventually went away. Personally, I would demand to be seen. Or see someone else. There is a possibility that it could be LP. But you'll never know unless you get her checked. I just think it's odd that the vet is blowing you off  |
Made appt. In the am tomorrow. But $130.00 for xrays!!! Omg its hiway robbery. If something wrong, maybe meds first, then xrays later, according to receptionist! Wish us luck that its nothing!!! We've been through enough with zooey coming from a puppy broker/mill. I hate this!!! |

Ziva started out with a skip at a little over a year, we knew that her knees were bad and the vet was keeping an eye on it. It got worse this past year (Ziva will be 4 next month) and the vet tore me up about her weight. I started her on cosequin while we started her diet and it made a big difference- now 6 months later she has lost more than a pound and she is back to just a very occassional skip. |

Momo's one leg was a grade 1 & I gave him cosequin for a year. On his last check up, the vet said both his knees were good. |
Hoping the vet and the x-rays can give you some answers and get this baby out of pain. The skip is to avoid bearing weight or pushing off - or both so likely it hurts when she does that during rapid walking. Hopefully the vet can get her some medicine that will ease this once a diagnosis is made. |
hope to hear soon how this went..hoping for good news... |

Will update you all tomorrow. Please, please, keep her in your prayers that its nothing serious! Good night everyone! |
OK, here's the news on zooey. Thank god its not LP. Possible sprang ligament under knee, not torn or she would be limping all the time. They put her on cosaquin. But was way to expensive, so went to pet smart for more then half the price of the same Med. Hopefully some improvements in a month unless she completely tears the ligament. Vet said no jumping!!! Right, impossible for this little girl. Jumping is her specialty. Also not so tiny as I thought. She weighs 7 lbs. Now at one year! |
Good news! It might be a good idea to put her in her crate or an expen so she can rest her leg. It's so hard to keep them from jumping. Good luck with everything :) |
