| Me too...I CAN'T WAIT to see photos after all of this!!! And I agree, the crate might be a bit traumatic for her at this point. Poor baby. I'd like to think that your breeder didn't know about the ear infection prior to putting her on the plane. Perhaps the flying aggravated the infection. Flying with a cold or an ear issue sucks. I can only imagine what this little one went through. GOOD LUCK with everything!!! This must have been a really difficult experience for you. I saw some of your previous posts & I know that you were so excited with anticipation about your new puppy. I wish you the best & we're ALL rooting for you!!!

| Posted some pics from my phone. Not the best but something. Still learning. Darla is acting odd. She's sleepy not very active. Maybe she's finally settling? She even payed in and out of one of her crates. I left the setup in the bathroom and another in he kitchen area. But she only wanted to play with me about 30 mins total she's slept on my dirty close piles I was separating for laundry in my littlest sons room. After I put my sleeping son to bed she followed me out of his room laid on my lap on the floor. After 15 mins she allowed me to place her in the crate in the kitchen and I threw in one of my tank tops I was wearing and she's still in there. I left the door open too. I think it maybe safe to go to bed? Is this possibly normal? Maybe finally knowing she's home? She didn't eat all her wet food tonight so I gave her some nutrical to help supplement. |

| Aww you're doing everything you can! She's a little traumatized from the trip, probably. But it' good she's not freaking in the crate. That's actually a quick victory! i do think she believes she's home and is trying to figure it out and fit in. Just try to keep a schedule and be as consistent as possible. And yes, sleep!!!

| I read the beginning of your thread when you started it a few days ago. Just caught up,,,WOW! You both have been through so much. Maybe your littleone is finally settled down enough to realize how tired she is. Keep an eye on her for fever and coughing. I know this sounds silly, but when I brought Mina home I swaddled her at bedtime (she sleeps with us),just like I did my children when they were tiny. She would pass out imediately. She is two yrs old now and still likes to be wrapped up in a little blanket sometimes. Hope that in a few more days you can look back and think of it all as a bad dream and move on with your new addition. |

| There are some breeders with very large set ups that get health certificates from less than reputable vet's. The certificates are usually presigned and just use them as they ship out pups. I hope this is not the case with your baby. A pup that has a yeast infection and ear mites has come from a place that is not taking good care of their dogs. Mites are very contagious and yeast comes from constant damp conditions in the ear. It is also usually less common in dogs with upright ears. I'm sorry. I'm sure she is a wonderful little girl. It certainly is not the pup's fault. But please be very watchful with her. Yes, after the stress she has been put through she should be sleepy but not excessively. Do you know how to watch for hypoglycemia? Is she eating well for you? Really a fresh fecal specimen is best to take to the vet. That usually is not difficult to get from a baby. Having a potty pad near her crate that she can get to when needed is really important. You don't want her learning to potty in the crate. I hope you both got a good night's sleep. Hopefully things will start to get better for you soon although the first several months of any puppy's life are bound to be a very busy time. This should be a joy filled time for you. I hope you get to enjoy your time with your new family member. |

| sounds like she is settelig down and that is a good thing, plus the drops might have started to work and her ears hurt less. Trust is also starting to build up and she is most likely exhausted from not sleeping much over the last few days. puppies like infants do need a lot of sleep. It is also common for them to nest and sleep in things like laundry LOL especially when it is dirty. I was changing sheets yesterday and of course Lola made a bed immediately on the floor in them, If I drop my coat on the floor when I come in I would bet money on the fact that before Lola will be laying on it, So the good news is things do sound normal. since you have young children you might want to make sure to tell them how important sleep is and if she is sleeping not to wake her. I know how hard it is to keep kids from wanting to pick up puppies but there have been threads here in the past on how a child dropped a puppy or stepped on it, all by accident, but it resulted in a broken limb. Some people even put a little bell on their neck so you can hear them, since they are often under foot. Just yesterday I slightly stepped on my dog's foot when we were playing. Anyway, enough of my advice, I am sure you will do what is best. Where are the photos, I could not find them

She was probably still in freak out mode the first few days you had her. And now she's finally able to exhale a little bit. I was surprised at how much they sleep when I first got my puppy. In fact, they still sleep a lot! Keeping my fingers crossed for you

| Wow........I just caught this thread. I am so sorry for what the 2 of you have been through. I suspect once that ear gets to feeling better and she's had about a week with you, she will seem a different puppy. The worst I dealt with getting Bentley was him throwing up in the car 3 times. That's not near as bad as what Darla endured, and he still took about a week before he was settled and happy. Well the worst is over. Prayers for smooth sailing from this point out. Enjoy your beautiful little girl.
