| Is my dog a chameleon? My 2 year old Yorkie Poo is black with all of the poodle fur characteristics. His mama was a cream colored mini-poodle and his daddy is a yorkie. (Never saw the papa). In the past few weeks, we have noticed that Moses' fur is gray at the base of his fur, and he is getting some white spots on his back! He has some white strands here and there, too. It's only down the center top of his back. His legs and the rest of him is still all black. Is it normal for a dog who is 2 years 5 months old to change colors??? He just had his annual check up and got a clean bill of health. The vet thinks if we were to shave him down, his fur would grow in gray! Any ideas??

| Awww, well I know that Yorkie's hair changes for a long time - some have said up to 2 years or a bit more. I think it is just who he is. I like the term chameleon, though. Should be fun to watch as he changes! You should take pics weekly and then when he gets to where he is going to stay, do like a montage to watch him change

| We have a 3 year old Shorkie. When we first got her she was all black. We had her groomed last year for the first time. She cane home beige and black after being shaved, We just had her groomed again and she's losing most of her black. She used to look like a black shih tzu now it seems her yorkie colors are coming out. I guess you never really know what colors your dog is going to turn out unless you know it/s ancestors beyond the mom and dad. |
