| Part 6 Mommy Melt Down March 22 Animal Hospital, waiting room 7:45 am. I just watched my old Ruby boy go through the back room door to the pre -op area. The last thing I saw was his blinking beautiful brown eyes and quivering top knot. Rubin whined and gave a final little yip that seemed to say , help me Mama, as the door closed with a final click. I almost burst into tears. I even reached out to him as I swallowed a big lump in my throat. I pressed a hand to my rolling belly and leaned against the counter, I picked up the empty zebra carry bag and blinked hard. Deb handed me a tissue. She said sympathetically, "Dr. B will be with him the whole time." Polly or was it Molly, stroked my arm and exchanged a sad look with her sister and said gently, " It is the kindest thing..." I looked at her through tears and stuttered, "Wha...what do you mean ?" Deb burst out laughing and quickly reassured the three women, "Oh no ! He is not being put to sleep. Rubin will be fine, he is just having a routine dental." Pollly took her hand off my arm and took a step back. She exchanged talking looks with her sister. I could see their minds batting possible answers back and forth. They searched for logical reasons, for why I would be so worried. I actually saw Molly or was it Pollly, find an answer that was acceptable. New patient and or first dental. After a few seconds of psychic communication the other sister offered me comforting words." Really you can trust Dr. B. she is a very good doctor, we have been with her for years and years." Then the other sister nodded and added, " we have three Bully girls and they all get dentals." The back room door opened and Sue said, "Good morning Carol, is Mia ready ? " We all looked at Carol. She was clutching Mia to her chest and could barely stand up, like her knees were weak. She kissed Mia and taking a deep noisy breath, she finally handed Mia to Sue. We all rally round Carol as tears roll down her cheeks. Deb calmly hand her a tissue and says, "Dr. B will be with her the whole time, she will be fine." I turn to Deb and she soothes me too, "Ms. Teresa I will call you like I always do, as soon as Rubin is done, and again when you can pick him up." I reply softly, "Thanks." I slip out the door before the sisters realize, I have been with Doctor B for years and years. I want to go home, where I an cry and worry in privacy. When I get to the car, I sit there for a few minuets and sip the too hot tea. Saying one more prayer then I start the car. As I leave, the eight o'clock appointments start to arrive. I think, Poor Deb she is going to have a long day. I drive on auto pilot as my mind starts to settle into that numb state, that happens to me after stress. Four Yorkies bark in greeting. Everyone sniffs the empty carry bag and Grace climbs in it and lays down. I swear her look is reproachful, like she is asking, where is Rubin. DH comes into the living room and says, "Eat something and take your meds." I nod and he ambles into the kitchen. Oddly the dogs don't follow him into their favorite room, but pile around me on the sofa. Ginny presses against my side, not begging for breakfast at all. Abba climbs on the back of the sofa and gives me ear and chin kisses. Julia Rose brings me toy. Gracie give one final sniff to the zebra bag, then climbs up in my lap. DH makes Yorkie food and me toast but, nobody goes to check it out. OMG that is Yorkie Love ! Comfort Cuddles before food. I get all teary, as we settle down to wait. I absently nibble the toast and swallow the pills DH hands me. I hope they call soon. It is already 8:30 !

| LOL. Enjoying the story. Boy, Teresa, your characters in your story are far more interesting than when I take mine in! We don't have near the characters in my local vet clinic except the kid with the SNAKE over his shoulder one morning looking into my face when I looked up! I'd say that amped up taking Tibbe to the vet to one million more times the anxiety than ever before, as if we aren't tense enough.

| Part 7 Mommy Melt Down, March 22 I load the dishwasher and wait for the phone to ring. I walk through the house like I am looking for a lost something. And listen for the phone to ring. The (four) Yorkies follow me like paper clips drawn to a magnet. Each in their own way touching me and offering comfort. I try to watch TV but I am to distracted by the unheard ticking clock. Darn why doesn't the Vet's office call, Deb said she would. Finally I open my laptop and click onto Yorkie Talk. Ah... Now here is a problem I can help with. I get involved and absently reach for the phone when it rings. OMG the phone is ringing ! Or rather it is barking, the ring tone for the Vet is Yorkies barking ! I answer the phone, "Hello, Oh that is great. Yes, sure three o'clock." Hanging up the phone I shout, "Wahoo, Ruby is awake and doing fine !" The Yorkies bounce, dance and bark. DH comes out of the bathroom and says "Good news ?" I give him hug and repeat what Deb told me. "Well grab your shower and I'll take you to lunch, for your birthday. I nodded and said, "Good I'll wear my new blouse and the stretchy, I wish I was Skinny Jeans." We laughed. Amazing one short barking phone call and my little world is just fine. I hop into the shower and love the hot steamy spray. I sing completely off tune, "I feel blessed, blessed, blessed, it's my birthday, it's my birthday, la, la, la, doo daaaaaaaa." Abba yodeled along and Julia Rose played tug the towel off Mama. I turned on the blow dryer and they made a mass exit like the Hebrew people, leaving Egypt.

| I knew it would have a happy ending!! I'm glad your birthday turned out well after the shaky start. You should write short stories and get published. I love your style, and agree with yorkietalkjilly. Much more interesting people than I see at my vet office. Have you ever read James Herriot? (British vet) Similar style. Love his books. Highly recommend them.

| Wow Teresa......I felt like I was sitting next to you going through this with you and Rubin. Glad Rubin's dental went OK and you got to celebrate your birthday. Too funny about the hair dryer exodus.

| Part 8 Mommy Melt Down the end Hubby and I finished lunch at our favorite mom & pop Italian restaurant. Our waitress (of course named) Maria. Is a lovely brown eyed, dark haired beauty, she is the owners daughter. Maria asked, "Is this a celebration lunch ? You both seem so happy." I beamed a smile at her and replied, " Yes, Ruby had a dental and we are going to get him when we leave here." Maria nodded, "Ah I see, very scary when they put them to sleep, to do that. My little Lena is going next week. I will take the day off, no way I could work." Hubby and I nodded in understanding. We often saw Maria at the dog park with her little white Maltese. That is how we discovered this tiny little restaurant with the lovely home made sauce and pasta. Dear Husband added, " By the way, it is Teresa's birthday too." Maria did a little clap and said, "Wait, wait, I'll get you a birthday desert, you like Mama's raspberry cake ?" I thanked her and asked for it in a box. With a final wave at the door, we are on our way to pick up Rubin. It is 2:55 when we arrive at the Animal Hospital. I see a familiar Lexus, Yep it is the Bad Daddy Man. Back in that ucky brown grass with he puppy and he is still on the phone. He calls her, "Come on Hilda, do your stuff." Poor Dobey puppy sits with that far away post surgery look on her pretty little face. The Bad Daddy Man gives the leash a few tugs. I hate that. He drops the phone in his pocket and stomps toward the puppy. We watched and he stepped in a big pile of dog poop. I burst out laughing. Yippee Karma. He tried wiping his shoe on the grass and scraping his shoe with a stick. I snickered and Hubby looked at me in surprise. "Ok," I said, "give him some paper towels and a Wal-mart bag for his shoe, out of the back, he can drive home in his socks." DH smiled and said, " That's my girl scout." I huffed a little and started up the walk way. Hubby called to the guy and said "Want a bag for the shoe, you can drive home in your socks ?" I didn't hear the answer, as I went inside. Deb was on the phone and waved me up to the counter. She handed me the clip board, I signed the bill gave her my debit card and took a plastic bag with the pink bottle of antibiotics. The surgery door opened and there was my Ruby boy. He saw me and gave a big toothy smile. " Aw Ruby, you have a beautiful smile !" I gleefuly chanted. He gave a groggy tail wag, as Sue put him in my arms. Dr. B opened the door and gave me a quick wave. "He did great." I said a hearty thank you . The door closed and I ask Sue, "How did it go with Tammy ? and Mia's spay ?" Sue smiled and answered, Perfect ! Mia is awake and her Mommy is on her way. Tammy had 5 girls and one adorable bully boy. She will go home in the morning. Deb handed me back my debit card and a big pink envelope. I raised an eyebrow, when she said "Happy Birthday Ms. Teresa !" I was surprised and said "Thanks you didn't have to do that !" Deb said, "It is from all of us, have a great day !" Rubin snuggled into my neck and I left with a wave and big smile. The End

| I really did enjoy your serial. Laughed and got teary-eyed and felt your pain and thoroughly relished every chapter. You tell a great story and the characters were enjoyable and all too real in some instances. haha. You need to write a book and entitle it That Crazy Yorkie Lady and you would sell one to every woman in this country with one of those little tan and blue-steel terriers in her lap and her heart. I'll never forget how much I enjoyed the two Jazzy books. I'm hungry for books about Yorkies and Yorkie people. We're our own crazy breed and it's fun to read about us.
