				 | I would never buy a tinie Yorkie because that is just not natural. When I was told Matthias would be around 7 pounds, I thought perfect! That's the way he's supposed to be! I can't see why people went out and tried to mutate the gene of a perfect breed to make an even tinier unhealthy version of it. It's irrisponsible. but it's done for money in most cases, I agree.

				 | I'm glad to see this discussion. My Susan is a little over 7 lbs. Part of me is a little disappointed and part is greatly relieved. The disappointed part wanted to get one of the carrying purse things and tote her around everywhere, but I have a bad shoulder and I can't carry a 7 lb dog for any length of time. I can carry her through about one antique shop (yeah, there are plenty that allow it) and that's about it for a couple of hours. The rest of me is really glad she's the size she is. My husband and I are both sort of clutzy and it would be dangerous for Susan to be around us if she were much smaller. She's exactly right as she is. Big enough for us to see but small enough to cuddle. I understand the cache with a tiny dog; they look SO neat, but a little bit bigger is usually healthier and easier to deal with, I think. So for my sake I guess I'm a little disappointed but for Susan's sake I'm very, very glad she's as big as she is. BTW, we had her spayed because we didn't want to risk an accident. A lot of big dogs in this area run loose and even though she always goes out on a leash, the definition of an accident is something that happens despite measures to reduce its changes of occuring. With a leash, there could still be an accidental pregnancy. This way there can't be. |

Breeding tinies to make more tinies is WRONG and unethical in my opinion. However, if standard size parents produce a tiny, then that is acceptable but I would (if I were the breeder) have the tiny spayed BEFORE sending her to her new home to guarantee that she would never be FORCED to breed.

				 | I also agree with Minniemn 100% ! We had our girls spayed before any heats, I think its the owners that should take the responsibility to have this done early enough so they won't have to worry about life threatening births, not to mention the possibility of cancer later one. Our girls happened to be the so called " runts " of the litter from normal size parents and they turned out wonderful. They now remain 5 to 6 lbs. in size at 6yrs and 8 yrs old now. It really makes me sick to see this beautiful breed changing for the sake of those people that want money instead of keeping a quality of the breed. I better be quiet now but I had to vent too. |

I bought a little girl and she is totally natural. Yorkies are supposed to be under 7 lbs. so sometimes they will naturally be less, and sometimes more. Breeding a small female is another story. | |

Now people who intentionally breed TINIES for the popular demand to make more tinies -- well, that's a whole different story. That is seriously wrong and disgusting. I call those so-called "breeders" BUTCHERS. They only breed GREED.

Yes I agree with you. There are Breeders, and then there are breeders, Their not the same. When I first joined YT, I was thinking of breeding Princess, just so my niece could have one. It wasn't the best thing for Princess so I didn't, and I won't. I went and found a good Breeder and bought a puppy for my niece instead. Princess & Minnie are great friends.
