I'm glad to see this discussion. My Susan is a little over 7 lbs. Part of me is a little disappointed and part is greatly relieved. The disappointed part wanted to get one of the carrying purse things and tote her around everywhere, but I have a bad shoulder and I can't carry a 7 lb dog for any length of time. I can carry her through about one antique shop (yeah, there are plenty that allow it) and that's about it for a couple of hours. The rest of me is really glad she's the size she is. My husband and I are both sort of clutzy and it would be dangerous for Susan to be around us if she were much smaller. She's exactly right as she is. Big enough for us to see but small enough to cuddle. I understand the cache with a tiny dog; they look SO neat, but a little bit bigger is usually healthier and easier to deal with, I think. So for my sake I guess I'm a little disappointed but for Susan's sake I'm very, very glad she's as big as she is. BTW, we had her spayed because we didn't want to risk an accident. A lot of big dogs in this area run loose and even though she always goes out on a leash, the definition of an accident is something that happens despite measures to reduce its changes of occuring. With a leash, there could still be an accidental pregnancy. This way there can't be.
