I am sorry that I am just the type that is super sensitive and gets my feelings hurt very easily. Sometimes the comments may not mean to hurt me, but sometimes I might take it the wrong way. I post to this board for advice and questions. The yorkie breed has totally won me over and I will never stop being in love with them. I love all dogs, but after owning my yorkie for 13 and half years, she has totally won my heart. I don't even think I could ever go with another breed. And I agree that sometimes I am scared to even post anything because I worry about getting a mean comment. Nobody is perfect and we are here to learn. I am sure my baby Chloe is out there somewhere. And when I finally find her, I will welcome her with all the love in the world.

My situation wasn't the same, but I did lose the yorkie pup I was supposed to get. After being incredibly upset, I found a absolutely wonderful lady on here who I am now getting my baby girl from. My point is I guess, just keep looking, keep hope, and you'll soon find out that everything happens for a reason and when you do get your baby, they'll be the one meant to be with you.

The first little female that I was supposed to get died also. I was so upset at the time we had anxiously awaited for her.I ended up getting a female from the same breeder. Maybe you can get one from that breeders next litter.

Cajungal - I don't think of this as a time to jump on or criticize you ---but rather a time to remind all of us and especially our new members that most of us are very much against breeding small Yorkies in an effort to have and sell small puppies.

Unfortunately, as long as there is a market for these tiny little things, people will continue to deliberately breed small Yorkiers.

All things being equal (even though some very small dogs live a long and healthy life) --they really don't have as good a chance to do this as the larger little dogs do. It is so sad to read over and over and over again about these tiny little dogs dying because they just can't fight many of the problems they are born with. And, even more heartbreaking are the stories about the poor little mothers who have a difficult time delivering these puppies or die during or shortly after they give birth. Many of these sad sad stories could be stopped if people stopping deliberately trying to breed very tiny Yorkies ---and it would stop even quicker if people did not look for or buy these tiny little things. As long as people want and buy these tiny little pups, some people will continue to make them available.

I am so afraid it will never end. I still keep seeing posts about -- my little 2 1/2 pound Yorkie - my darling little 3-pound Yorkie - my Yorkie weighs only 3 1/2 pounds - etc. etc. etc.

And, I keep seeing advertisements selling Yorkie pups saying they will weigh only 3 or 4 pounds - or stating that that is all their parents weighed.

It's sad! Wish we could stop it. It is such abuse and heartbreaking at that.

Cajungal --- I knew when I read your post that started this thread -- what was going to happen and it did!!!

I, personally, am hoping that you will not be in such a hurry and take whatever amount of time you need to find a healthy little pup - one that weighs 5 pounds or more. There are a lot of them out there. Good luck in your search.

I was told that my little pup would weigh between 5 and 10 pounds, and I bought him without batting an eye. He is an absolute doll - and, remember, even a large Yorkie is a very small dog.

There are a lot of small Yorkies on this site. (between 3 to 5 lbs) They are all healthy and are of all ages. My baby was the smallest of the litter...she now weighs 4lbs at 7 months. Her Mom and Dad are 5lbs. Please remember that there is usually one small baby in every litter!!!! I did not go searching for a tiny baby.

Hi, I keep thinking the same thing to myself every time I read your post about finding a yorkie in your tiny town.........I live in Baton Rouge, LA and see very few yorkies advertised, I have learned not to look in papers for a puppy...............at any rate I just keep wondering why you don't make contact with a breeder and you and your mother and maybe some friends make a road trip......I drove 16 hours to pick 2 of mine up..........I know you can find one a lot closer than that, but sometimes you have to make a way to get what you want. She just started breeding yorkies this year. But, I know she had a least 1 litter before. Because I talked to someone who knew someone who bought a yorkie from her. I was friends with her son in high school. I never met his mother. I went once to their home my senior year. Because her son, and some friends and I were going somewhere that night. It was late and I think she was asleep. I am now 29, so that was a long time ago. I have not spoken to her son since high school. My dad worked with her husband for years and years. He never met his wife. I found out from word of mouth from people we spoke to that bought a yorkie from her. But, I keep thinking the thoughts over and over in my head. Losing 2 litters from two different yorkie moms seems a bit fishy to me. These yorkies were both 5 pounds she says. And she kept us hanging for over 2 weeks. I think she should of at least called us to tell us they all died. Instead she kept us hanging and my dad had to call her ourself. And everytime we made an appointment for us to go over to see her yorkies, she kept making excuses at the very last minute. I can't see any reason why she would make something like this up just so we can't have a puppy. If she does not believe that we could give it an excellent home with lots of love, then she could of visited our home. She could of called the vet for references where I took Lacey. We could of proved it to her that her puppy would of went to a good home. We were going to pay her asking price of $800-900. Even though it was way over our original budget, we were still going to pay her the money. I am not in any way saying that she is lying, just fishy that is all. I don't have any proof.

We have 1 other breeder whose yorkie is due this week. Just called her today. She said it should be anytime now. But, the only way we can have a puppy is if 3 females are produced. Because the lady who provided the stud definitly told her she wants a female. And another female is going to her daughter. And one other couple definitly wants a male. (4 puppies are expected, but there is no way to be positive.) So, I am going to be praying all the way that she has 3 females. If not, I am back to square one. I know Chloe has to be out there somewhere. But, just don't know where. I have been really depressed. My first Christmas without Lacey was very hard. And would of been her 14th birthday is just a little over 2 weeks away.

Have you got your mind set on a female pup,little guys make great pets too and are easier to house break,they like to hike thier leg outside on a bush or tree,just wondering,if you open your heart and your requirements,then maybe a little guy is availiable

I am not saying a male won't make just as great as a pet. But, my mom said if we can't get a female, then we are not getting one at all. I tried and tried to talk to her. But, she is very stubborn and when her mind is made up. I can't change it. Maybe when I finally can afford to live on my own, then I will get a male.

I have seen your posts for getting a puppy for a while. I honestly fail to see what the difference is between a male and a female if you're not using it for breeding. Well, besides the way you would dress them. Or have you tried looking for a full grown female? I feel sorry for you, and I know you miss your old female yorkie. You seem to have been looking for such a long time. Maybe it's time your mom try to "give a little?" I do believe in people living within their means like your family is doing, but there are always sacrifices that have to be made. Good luck with finding your little one.
