| Traveling with Yorkie In a couple of months, we're going to be taking our first road trip from Oklahoma to Florida with our Yorkie (and us). Any helpful hints would be appreciated. FYI - he gets car sick! |

| Have you talked to your vet? There might be something they can give him to help with the car sickness.

| The vet had given him some meds when I started his obedience training, but we found that children's car sickness meds did better. I only gave him 1/4 of a pill, but it was only 10 miles away. |

| We traveled with Jack last year to Florida - fortunately, he loves car rides and does not get sick. Other than having his comforts from home, i.e. blankets and toys, I would make sure you have access to a water bowl and food. Though with him getting motion sickness, you will have to plan longer stops somewhere along the way for his feedings. We made more frequent stops - about every two hours (unless Jack was sleeping) to stretch and let him go potty and offer water and food. Again, with your little one and the car sickness, I would only offer food a couple of times (not sure how many hours you will be traveling) or you may want to feed him several smaller meals. I had read somewhere that motion sickness may be stopped if the pups can see out the window - does your little one have a car seat where he can see out the window? Good luck!

| Yes, he does have a car seat, but unfortunately that didn't seem to matter. |

| I don't have any suggestions about car sickness - Zeus is fine so I don't have any experience. But regarding everything else, make sure to bring a container for water. ESPECIALLY if he gets sick. He'll need those fluids. You can get those collapsable bowls or a plastic flip kind (kind of a like a water bottle at the top that folds into the actual bowl). And then of course the obvious...food, any treats that he likes and his favorite toys. Zeus is really attached to me and loves his car seat but on long trips I've found it helpful for him to have a sweatshirt or something of mine. We will be taking a longer trip in April and when we do, I'm going to have one of his blankets in our bed and use that instead of a sweatshirt. It helps him calm down (he'll whine to come sit on my lap. And I'm the one driving...haha). If you any type of chews (whether food or a toy), bring that for the long ride. It'll help as a distraction.

| Sorry no suggestions for car sickness, I was just at my Vet and I did see something they were advertising for it but I ignored the ad. I have taken Sophie Kate on many car trips and she does great. I was goingto suggest a carseat so your baby can see out the window. Also make sure you take plenty of water, some toys and we stop every three hours for a potty break and a walk. Sophie Kate ususally falls asleep in the car, must be the motion and noise makes her tired.

| Bilbo has been on many long car trips, and gets sick from anxiety (he loves to go but hates to ride!) I've found that calming drops, Benadryl and a Thundershirt work wonders. Benadryl has the same ingredient as Dramamine, so if your pup isn't anxious, it should work great. I can't remember the name of the calming drops, but I picked them up at PetSmart. I use them for short trips of an hour. |
