I know you're are concerned Nancy and rest assured he has a vast array of chew toys, food and raw marrow bone available to him at all times. I really believe he's missing something in his diet and ready for his diet change. In fact it was a post on this forum where someone else testified that the poop eating stopped after going raw. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/3239157-post4.html

I wasn't saying you shouldn't try raw, I was just saying his breath is bad from teething, and a food switch may or may not help with poop eating. Most pups outgrow this, but if they didn't, I would definitely try a food switch in an adult. If they are eating their poop as an adult, it could mean undigested protein is in the poop. Many people here are very happy with raw.

My baby had a big day at the vet. She got updated on her vaccines and cleaned her ears to show me how it's done. She is 12 weeks today and weighed in at 1.15 lbs ;)

Alot of puppies eat their own poop. This is a behaviour they learn from their mothers, as their mothers eat their babies poop. The quickest way to break your pup is to get a product from your vet. You sprinkle it on your dogs food. It is odorless & tasteless, until it passes through the dog. It makes the poop taste awful. I had a Boston Terrier that would poop & immediately turn around & eat it. I called the Vet, he had me come in & pick up this powder. It worked the very first time. My pup turned around to eat her poop, spit it out, sneezed a couple of times & NEVER did it again. The vet said it could take a couple of times but it only took one time use for my puppy.

You are right, some puppies learn this from their mother, but not all puppies are that easy to break.

My Stella is a Nov baby born the 19th so she is at the 13 week mark and I am proud to say she is at 3.8 lbs and healthy and happy :)

Yes, Pineapple and some of the other products you can buy have enzymes that act as a meat tenderizer i so that no undigested protein is left in the poop, but this only works, if the problem was caused by undigested protein. With puppies, it can be more of just a novelty, and they will outgrow it without doing anything special. Some are diehard poop eaters though! I’ve been told that we should never scold Yorkies for pooping in the wrong place; they are more likely to hide the evidence (by eating it :p)!

Lol, did the cat kiss you or was it a dog that ate the cat poop? I've heard that cat poop is a delicacy to most dogs, and I’ve never had a cat that would kiss me!

When Bentley is out and about I make sure the area where the cat food and all is closed off! He'd eat all the cat food for sure...lol

Lol, thankfully, my two have never done this, they do give me little kisses and I just can't imagine how horrible a poop kiss would be! :D
