I'm not sure if I'm on your ignore list.., and please don't think I'm trying to come across as knowing better. I went through the ringer with dog foods recently because of wanting to switch from the blue buffalo (there were many complaints about loose stools so I thought maybe that was why Max had so many) In the process I too came across the raw foods and BARF diets. I chose wellness. Just thought I'd share my reasons. I have the raw thing some thought although realistically I don't think I'd really be able to find the time to do it, and I'm not sure I could get over the yuck factor either. But wanting to do the best for him I did give it some consideration. Then I came across something that made me dismiss it all together. There was an article that said although a raw diet is natural and that's what wild dogs would eat, wild dogs don't live very long. And we don't have wild dogs, we have pets. Please don't think I'm being demeaning in saying this but cavemen ate raw food before fire, and as people we learned that it is safer to cook it. I am super paranoid about food born illness when it comes to my family and thinking of that I know I couldn't take the chance of giving the dog something that could be contaminated. I think there are cooked diets for dogs also but I know I would not have time for that. So I picked wellness because it supposedly has no byproducts and is made with people grade food (hence the cost) of course this decision I have made has some risk so I will be watching closely for recalls and such. But the risk of eating raw chicken to me seems way higher. I know a lot of people are all for these raw diets and I don't doubt that their dogs get a healthier grade food than mine but even with all the good I've read, with my OCD tendencies it wasn't an option.

I see them just now also. But I posted it hours ago. Can you tell I don't know how this works... I have all sorts of quotes in my replies that I don't even know how they got there. I think its a bit easier to navigate on the pc rather than my phone... (no brainere there right)... I guess I'll get the hang of it.
Is there a way that we can start a group for puppies born in November. That was the whole initial point of this post by pooky and I thought it was a great idea.

Pooky's been well over fed the past few days and he doesn't seem to have an end to his chewing no matter how much he's given but happy he didn't eat poop yesterday; that I know of. One of the reasons my husband was so upset with me was he said he's a puppy and always going to be asking for more no matter what he's given and I believe him.

There are certain products and practices in the USA that are unheard of in the country I live in. I'm sure you're making the best decisions you can that you are comfortable with and I am too. I don't buy certain brands of chicken that are turkey sized chicken breasts. Not sure if you've ever seen Food Inc but that really grosses me out. In this country, you can still find normal sized chicken lol

Yes as I'm sitting here Max has eaten almost all of a very important note that fell onto the floor... yet his breakfast is sitting untouched. Thank goodness that the doesn't eat poop... (That I know of) I'm sure his kennel would stink if he were messing in it and eating it so I think we are okay. I did have a dog that did that though. After getting Max (who is a dream compared to the other) I'm thinking it may be how a puppy is raised before you bring it home. Partially by the mom dog and partially by the breader. Max was born in a cage kennel and kept with mom in a Cage kennel and between the Mom and the breeder they did an excellent job of keeping it clean. I think he is doing so well with things because he loves his kennel (He will run for it to get away from my kids sometimes).
About your husbands comment, My puppy doesn't seem to always want food. But he is always chewing somthing! I assume you have had his stool checked, I think some parasites can cause them to be overly hungry. Best of luck with fixing this problem... I know how hard it is to housetrain a dog that eats their own mess!

I don't know anything about chicken practices except if I have raw chicken in my kitchen I have to disinfect the whole thing. I wasn't kidding about the OCD. So as paranoid as I am I just couldn't take the risk of putting the stuff in a bowl to feed to anything... lol, as I said I realize alot of people do it but after really thinking about it I decided commercial food is the best he will get.
