Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Clyde weighed four pounds at four months old when I adopted him. I don't have his 12 week weight =( ... but at three years old he weighs a whopping 13 pounds. Dexter weighed 2.5 pounds at 12 weeks, and weighs 9 pounds fully grown. |

| ![]() We were at the vet today. So... Yoshi: 12 wks = 2.3 lbs / now, 1 year = 7.2 lbs Momo: 12 wks = 4.2 lbs / now, 9 mos = 8.6 lbs Both are healthy & happy ![]() Interesting to see in this thread how impossible it really is to predict adult weight. Yoshi was the same size at 12 wks as other Yorkies who are now in between 3-12 lbs as an adult. That's a huge window. When I had Momo's DNA tested, the report came back telling me that she would weigh in between 5-10 lbs. Even a DNA test can't give a good prediction! Lol

| ![]() A friend of mine had a Yorkie that weighed 2.5 pounds at 13-14 weeks, her baby grew to be 18 pounds and he was 100% pure yorkie and just so very handsome. His mom was 6.5 pounds and his dad weighed 5 pounds. So go figure.

![]() Momo is a mill rescue & she was very ill when we got her at 12 weeks. She almost died. Twice. I ran the DNA test because I wanted to be 100% positive about her breed, the breed of her parents, grandparents, great-grandparents. I wanted to be prepared for any congenital issues that might come up in the future. The weight thing was one little paragraph at the end of the 4 page report. Regarding feeding, I both control & allow them to graze. I have a complcated feeding schedule. But if you really want to know... Breakfast is at 8:30. From 10-3 I leave them a few tablespoons of dry food so they can graze in case they get hungry. Momo has some digestive issues & needs to eat small portions often. So she has dinner at 5. Yoshi doesn't get hungry until 7ish. So he eats a dinner at around 7. Then they both have a snack at before bedtime. I feed them a lot of treats througout the day. But I subtract the treats from the total daily food intake. They get things like baby carrots, celery, green beans, raw squash, strawberries, yogurt, little chunks of roasted chicken, deydrated yams, cheese, tripe, pieces of their dry food...On bath day, once a week they get a duck neck. I don't feed them traditional kibble. They eat raw. Even the "dry food" is raw, either dehydrated or air-dried. I home cook for them too. I switch it up every now & then so they don't get bored. I also use a lot of supplememts. I'm pretty anal about their food. I know how many calories/protien/fat each of them require a day & I make sure that they eat as much as their bodies require. When I homecook, I weigh out the protein, carbs, etc on a kitchen scale & add any supplements that they need that they aren't getting from the "normal" food. So I definitely control their food, but I do it throughout the day vs. once/twice/three times a day.

| ![]() I have heard it said that the size of a Yorkie can be told by the size of the pupil, pups with small pupils will be big and pups with large pupils will be small, makes sense to me, big hands, big feet equal little noses and vice versa...hehehehe
