YT 2000 Club Member | Average yorkie height question? So, the height of a yorkie is 5-7 in. Exploring on here, I see most are averaging around 8 in. and up. I have never seen a yorkie that is that height. Does anyone have one that height or has this changed?

| Are you measuring to the top of the shoulder? My Lexie is on the smaller side at 5 lbs., and she's 9 1/2" at the shoulder. So I'm sure many are much taller than that.

| The Yorkie standard set by the club, YTCA, addresses weight (up to 7 pounds) but does not give an average height. A couple of the Grand Champion show dogs here on YT measure 10 inches from the the floor to the topline. My boys are a little larger (around 9 pounds) and are 11.5 inches from the floor to the topline.

| I think you might have gotten the 5 to 7 number from the old AKC standard of weight, which used to be 5 to 7 lbs. (now it's "not to exceed 7 lbs"). There's no standard on height. I did a poll one time about heights of everyone's YT's and the average seemed to be 11 to 12 inches.

YT 2000 Club Member | Maybe I have been reading it wrong! I just couldn't figure out why so many yorkies were taller than standard......so there is no standard height. I was thinking Teeka was tall, but I guess she is on the short side. She is 7 1/2 in. tall and 3.6 lbs. Thanks for clarifying that for me!
