				   | I have seen in a couple different places on YT that it is recommended to put a drop of mineral oil in your yorkie's eyes before a bath. When I checked out the ingredients I wondered if this hurts them when you do that? Is mineral oil the best thing to use or is there something else that would be better?? I'm really not understanding why do this anyway?? Can someone please help me understand??

				   | I believe the mineral oil prevents soap from irritating their eyes

				   | I never heard that... I am curious. How's everything going with your furbaby Ldyrev? Did you stop by the breeder and drop off the food?

				   | No, I have been sick and unable to travel for about a week, then it's just two weeks till she comes home (she's over an hour away from us) so we have asked our breeder about the rice cereal and she said she was supplementing the kibble to help her put on some weight as she was so tiny. Our vet said that it would be better for her to supplement with some wet puppy food instead but it's hard to tell a breeder what to do. So to make a long story short, we are planning on picking up Sophie on the 8th of Feb. and counting our blessings that we will be able to get her onto better food before she's 12 weeks old. I hope that doesn't sound like we don't care about Sophie because we really are concerned. I know they won't be breeding her mother any more due to the mother's biting but this is where things stand. I have decided that I will not recommend her to others seeking a Yorkie puppy. It just seems like she doesn't know enough about what these puppies need.

				   | I wouldn't. Just use a tear free shampoo, or cleansing condition, and rinse well. Can you link the threads where you saw that information here, I'm curious now.

				   | Actually, you sound quite the opposite and concerned for your new furbaby (not to say the breeder isn't). Is your pup abnormally under-weight or just a small puppy? Either way you'll be getting your pup sooner than later and you can care for her the way you see fit. I get mine about a week or so after you. I will be living vicariously through you

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...book-free.html Below is the pdf page 160... http://media.wiley.com/product_data/...0764568809.pdf "Don’t use human shampoo or conditioner on your Yorkie. His pH levels are different, and shampoo made for your hair is too harsh for his coat and skin. Mineral oil to protect his eyes Cotton balls to keep water out of his ears and to clean the eye mucous" I don't agree with any of this personally, I don't see how cotton balls do anything but allow water to seep in ears and stay there-we actually clean ears in the tub with our ear care solution right before and after shampooing-then again mine don't take a bath I use the shower extender head to rinse then, no standing water. The whole mineral oil seep way sketch. I use wen on my dog which allows for self adjusting ph balancing for hair and not fur and most dog shampoos unless breed specific are for fur not hair as yorkies have...

				   | MSDS sheets are Material Safety Data Sheets. It tells you all the hazards of any chemical. In the google bar put the chemical and the MSDS and the information will come up.

I know how excited I am so I expect that you are just as excited! I don't think she's abnormally underweight, she's right on the growth chart and over a week ago she was at 2.17 oz, and that's over a pound so from when we first saw her, she is growing very well. Do you have other Yorkie pups?? We have a mini Schnauzer at home (Hansel) who is grieving with my DH and I over our Gretel passing just after Christmas.
