| Alpha dog So my 'sweet innocent little girl' Molli has been trying to be dominant latley. She is 2yr and Chibi is almost 6. She gets on his head (or where ever) and humps him. If I am here I tell her no and gently push her off but she is getting worse. I worry what she does to poor Chibi when no one is home. Some times Chibi will growl at her to get her off but sometimes he just sits there and takes it. I feel so bad for my poor little boy. Chibi was here first, he should be Alpha but now it seems as if my little wild child is trying to take control. Is there any way I can get her to stop? How long will she keep picking on poor Chibi? Shes been humping him for a few months now, I was hoping it was a passing thing but she seems to do it more and more and now when I push her off she gets angry and starts biting at Chibi's feet and stuff (not too hard but harder than I would like her to play with him). What can I do???

| I clap my hands loud and a firm "NO" works with Joey. But I dont think his is dominance as much as its him figuring out what to do...and my lab just lays there...usually its her head too. If he doesnt then I remove them from each other and I hold him until I feel like hes forgotten what hes doing and let him back down to play.

| When my mom brought her yorkie rescue home he did that to the weaker of her dogs so my mom got a squirt bottle and filled it with water and would squirt him and say no when he did it. To dogs it doesn't matter who was there first just who is alpha.

| I tried the squirt bottle when she wouldnt stop barking......she loves water and thought it was great fun I tell her no but every once in a while she just gets in this mode where she wont listen and she just keeps going after him and after him. It's like me telling her no makes her want to do it more! I worry more about when I'm not home, I hope she doesnt torment him all day. I just wish I could tell her she's not Alpha! shes so frustrating sometimes

Donating YT Addict | Exactly. I'm the pack leader in waffles eyes. I've earned it. I trained her that way. She will wait for me to enter or exit before she does with out prompt. She sits and waits with manners for her food. I always eat first then feed her. Its small things that teach them. |

| you know it's easy for me to be Alpha with dogs I dont know, like at work. I can be Alpha over a rotwieler any day but when I get mad at Molli she gives me the saddest face........I guess maybe I havent been really enforcing my role with her. Chibi never did anything like this so I never really had to be the pack leader at home, he just was automatically obiedient and fairly well behaved. Molli on the other hand.......it' s been a learning experience for sure.

| I don't think being the "Alpha" means being a meanie. I think that you just have to demand respect the same way you would with a 2 year old by being firm & consistent. I had a similar issue when I brought a new girl into my home. Momo is a feisty little thing!!! I spent practically a whole week monitoring them & trying to catch the trouble before it started. I realized that it wasn't just Momo who was being a meanie. Yoshi was fed up by this point & he had no patience for her anymore. He was starting to fight back. Here's a recent thread to some tips that REALLY helped me...http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...-fighting.html I ended up treating both of them the same - even though Yoshi was here first. It really helped with Momo's need for dominance. I think that she may have been acting out because she was jealous that I always favored Yoshi. Or maybe she realized that "I" am the boss - not here. But I'm not a behaviorist...so I really have no idea WHY. My struggle with this is by no means OVER. They had another fight yesterday. But the situation isn't half as bad as it was. Good luck!!!!
