Thank you everyone . . .I will surely let you know when I hear something. Would love to just drive there, but they aren't open to the public until tomorrow. I'm just gonna put it "out there" and hopefully he'll be ours . . My husband already picked out a name for him . . . Makes it harder for me for the let down . . .:( Right now they have him listed as "Cash" . . DH wants to name him "Eli" . .. :) Fingers and toes crossed . .. thinking good thoughts . .. hoping and wishing . . .:hands: |
Be there first thing in the am if possible. This is so exciting! |
saying a prayer for you...hope you get him! |
Did the application say on it that by filling it out and getting approval you would be contacted once a Yorkie type dog came into their facility? Since it was the weekend, maybe they don't make attempts to contact until the facility is open or maybe the person who contacts is out ill, nobody else doing it. Or hopefully just a clerical error and no one else notified in front of you. I wish our facilities near me had that feature that you could apply and sit and wait but here you just have to go look or go online, which is not updated too often so always lagging behind or missing the newest. Adopting through a shelter and things like that is so frustrating. Do you know if they test their dogs for heartworm? |

It was probably just a clerical error but maybe passing on one does cause a reshuffle. Whatever it was, I hope you get your little guy!!! Can't wait to hear and hope the news is good! |

Still, as hard as you try not to, you still start thinking of names, supplies you'll want to get, which bed to get, a little coat in just that size, and all of that. It would break my heart over and over. Finally gave up and called a breeder I knew who had some dogs another breeder had relinquished to her to place just the week before and had now been vetted, groomed, settled in a bit and were now ready for homes. Tibbe was one of those dogs! I was so happy to have my dog and stop the heartbreaking process of looking and hoping and getting so disappointed. |
Exactly how I feel! But this time around I wanted so desperately to adopt from a shelter . . .I have two guys from breeders and they are AWESOME, but I feel I want to adopt a little one that wasn't wanted or couldnt be kept anymore . . . And I now see they have him marked "on hold" and they haven't even talked to me or gotten back to me, so I'm wondering if I never had a shot at all . . . |

I have found that one shelter is this area, cannot put dogs on hold, so it is a first come situation, which would be tough if you are working. Another shelter puts dogs on hold all the time for rescues, etc., and they are also able to choose homes by the applications. Guess each shelter is different. But I have also found, just like you, that being patient does pay off in the long run, just takes awhile. |

Update - Well, I haven't heard anything at all yet, and now he has been removed completely from their website and from petfinder. I have to say, that at this point, it's pretty safe to say I am not the one who will be adopting him. I'm disappointed that they didn't even respond to the email I sent or the phone message. |
sorry that is very disappointing. but lets pray he went to the perfect home and your next baby will come anytime. keeping my fingers crossed. maybe you should go there anyway just to remind them you are still looking. sometimes things get lost in the shuffle. just a thought. |
