| Brandi is scared of her food and it's all my fault. I've been hiding Brandi's pill in her food but then she would eat around the pill. So then I started hiding the pill with her food and feeding her it by hand. Then she stopped doing that so now I use peanut butter and so far so good. Well now the poor little thing thinks the pill is still hiding in her food even though it's not there. it wasn't until after that i read somewhere you shouldn't use their regular food to hide their medicine in because of this. My little one was a gulper. She would eat her food so fast, it scared me because I was afraid she was going to choke. Now she slowly picks at it because she thinks every bite is going to have her pill. I'm hoping over time she'll get over it. I don't want her to start losing weight again. She is now a healthy weight and I don't want any setbacks. I don't want to switch her food because there are only a few diets she is allowed to eat. It has be low protein for one. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | If she has any treats that she really likes I would start hiding treats in her food bowl. Overtime maybe she would get the idea that there is no more pills hiding in her food? Or maybe like you suggested just give it time, and with enough time of her eating and not finding a pill she will eventually realize that there are no pills in her food. My dog has to take pills, too ... but they ARE TINY! The tiniest pills that I have ever seen. So I just stick the pill in a treat and Clyde never even realizes they are there. So I have never had this problem, that this is perhaps what I would try? I hope you have the best of luck with getting her to eat her food again! |
