Yorkie Talker | Puppy Mills I am no breeder although I do have a litter from my princess (unplanned). The reason I never spayed her was because there were many stories that once you spay your dog their attitudes change. That's something that I didn't want to change cause I love her energetic happy attitude I never wanted that to change, and hey how would I feel if my privates were messed with, I had a C-section it is not pretty! While caring for my 5 grandpups I've learned alot about breeding, the time, dedication, love and nurturing it takes, wayyyy more than a child, and trust me a child needs a lot of lovin' so imagine. I never actually knew what puppy mills were until these pups and let me tell you I cried. These poor helpless animals treated like a peice of trash just for a few quick bucks let alone these puppies who are born in this type of environment. My babies and my girl has their own room they can bounce destroy and live, while these poor animals are in the cold in fenced crates stacked on top of each other it truly breaks my heart. I can't say don't buy a puppy from a puppy store because the puppy didn't choose this and it deserves a chance to be in a happy loving home, but when will these mills finally be illegal? When will this stop? I appreciate all you animal lovers whether its Yorkies, Maltese, Labs, Pitbulls. It doesn't take much for them to love you unconditionally, we complain about the little things but even if theyre treated in the worst way they'll always love you and they'll always wag their tails upon your arrival, a dogs love is the most selfless love, we should love the same. |

| Don't buy pup mill puppies...I'll say it. Buying isn't rescuing-its financially rewarding the torture of animals. For everyone sold 3 will die in the mill-statistically. Hope you now have your female spayed and have been utalizing YT for education, especially on the myths about spaying. Welcome to YT!! Can't wait to pics of your babies.

| I know... I think walking away from a puppy in a pet store (even after you know what a puppy mill is) has to be one of the hardest things to do. But if you do buy the puppy the puppy mill breeders will keep on breeding puppies. There are a lot of very dedicated people working to close the mills down.. you can find a lot of information on this site about some. I follow the documentary "breath" on my fb.. many on this site have dogs that were rescued from mills. We all have to know our resolve and fight in the ways we can one step at a time. My daughter... the one who lives in chicago... almost bought a puppy from a pet store. I started texting her pictures of the "mother" dogs from mills and pictures of mills.. she walked out. Later she found her baby from a rescue. I am not saying only rescues... but at least not puppy mills/pet stores. SOME back yard breeders are just a few steps above a puppy mills also.

| Once those pet store puppies get "too big" they get dumped at shelters anyway so why not wait until then to rescue the pup? That way neither the pet store nor the puppy mill gets any money and THEN they could get put out of business!

| I know a lot of people feel sorry for the pet store pups and it is certainly not the puppy's fault. But until people stop buying those pups the puppy mills will stay open. Several states have tried to control the puppy mills but these people are very clever in how they get around the rules. They can pack up over night and move to another location if they are found to be breaking any regulations. Many pet stores do not sell all the puppies before they get past the cute stage. The pups end up at shelters or rescues and that is probably the best thing for them. They are given medical care and someone responsible finds them proper homes instead of a pet store owner that only cares about getting as many dollars out of the pup as possible. Many shelters have contacts with Yorkie and other breed rescues that come get the pup as soon as it arrives at the facility. I know of one rescue in particular in PA that specializes in puppy mill dogs and puppies. It takes a really low form of life to sit back and let innocent animals work for them. These people do not even bother to clean the dogs cages or bathe them. |

| Have to agree. These puppy mills need to stop. They could care less for the poor animal. It's all about the almighty dollar. |

| Oh, yeah.....I wanted to add that spaying/neutering does not effect the personality of your pet. Many people think it is the procedure that caused their pet to become inactive or fat or have some personality issue but actually the pet was maturing and would have gone through these changes anyway. |

That pound gets a lot if their dogs dumped there, all they have to claim is that the pups were sold-no buyer information is allowed to be released in CA, and they get away with it-while I wish they could be prosecuted at least they dump the unsold pups there rather than other 'disposal' means.

| The only way to stop puppy mills is to stop buying the pups. The pups end up much luckier then the parents. Check out this link ASPCA | Puppy Mills. Also spaying a dogs rarely changes the dogs personality. I think most dogs would much rather be spayed and loved unconditionally as a pet then not spayed and going through heats and even bred but that's just my opinion.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I agree with many who posted, but lets not forget, buying online is even worse than buying in a pet store. The breeders who sell on line need NO inspections. Here's what the ASPCA has to say: Quote:

| In addition most of those very fancy sites you find when you do an internet search for a puppy are in reality puppy mills in disguise. They make very fancy sites with sweet puppy pictures and try to look like a lovely home breeder but it is all deception. The humane society gives some good advise about buying a puppy online: In the Market for a Puppy? : The Humane Society of the United States |
