| Swifter Wet Mop Did any of you hear that the swifter solution is harmful to pets? I just read that from a friend of mine. I went to their site and under FAQ's there is a response from the company, but it will not open for me. Could someone try and let me know.............will not use it until I know..........Thanks all,

| I have a mop similar to that but you fill it with your own solution. And wash the pads that go on it. You can buy the disposable ones but I'm a cheapo. I forget the brand but their are a few out on the market. I love mine it was about 20bucks and I use a squirt of dish soap and vinegar in mine. I have hardwoods & tiles. Btw, not sure on the swifter wetjet.

| I've been using the Swiffer Mop for a very long time! I need to check into this. I just use it in my kitchen and bathrooms. I always block the area off until it dries, though.

| I have steamers and a Swiffer-like refillable spray mop...forget what brand but it's red...lol...that I put a vinegar/water solution in...maybe a few drops of soap at times. I have, before getting the Yorkies, used a Swiffer Wet Jet when the kitties and big dog were not around...but always blocked the area off until the solution/floor was completely dry. I would also rinse the area with clean water after mopping...then dry it myself with paper toweling. The big dog didn't like the solution...maybe the smell...and would leave the area the instant I started to spray anyway. My complaint with all chemicals and my fuzz buckets is that I do not want them licking chemicals off their paws...period.

| I use the Swiffer Wet Jet and I don't think it's anything to freak out over. Thanks for the links for ASPCA and Snopes above. Makes me feel better. I mean, my pups don't really go on the floors while they are still wet and they don't lick the floors so I think it's fine. However, after reading some of your replies, I may try to mix up my own solution mixture with water, vinegar, and a bit of soap (just sounds a lot cheaper!! )

| Apparently this rumor started from an unidentified emailer. It is not true according to several sources. Here is what AKC says: American Kennel Club - AKC eNewsletter |

| Yes when a rumor starts, it spreads like wildfire. Snopes is one of the best sources to see if your story is true. There are a lot of homemade cleaning solutions available on the net. A small amount of dishwashing solution with warm water generally does the trick. |
